Day 38: Your Kingdom Come

Opening Prayer

opening prayer

Heavenly Father, we come before You today recognizing that through Christ’s victory over sin and death, we have been made heirs of all things. He has given us the authority and responsibility to establish Your kingdom here on earth. Forgive us for the times we have been passive or complacent in partnering with Your purposes. Renew our vision for bringing heaven to earth through obeying Your will. By Your Spirit’s power, stir up within us a burning desire to see every aspect of society aligned with Your eternal values. Give us hearts that seek first Your kingdom and righteousness. May our prayers, words and actions each day intentionally further Your reign on earth as in heaven. Use us as Your instruments to spread Your love, glory, and truth in the world. We ask in the authority of our Lord Jesus. Amen.

Scripture Reading and Reflection

the kingdom of god

Matthew 6:10 KJV

Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

Reflection:

Through Christ’s victory, God’s original intent for mankind to exercise dominion is restored. Jesus fulfilled the Adamic role as the last Adam (1 Cor 15:45), and now, as His body, we are commissioned to be representatives of His kingly rule. We have been granted His authority to extend His lordship (Luke 10:19). When Jesus taught His disciples to pray “Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven” (Matt 6:10), He wasn’t suggesting this was merely God’s sovereign plan alone. He meant for us to partner actively in establishing God’s purposes here! Other verses echo this call, like Isaiah 2:2-4, envisioning nations learning God’s ways so His teachings go forth from Zion. As ambassadors of reconciliation (2 Cor 5:18-20), we intervene for God’s order through preaching, teaching, acts of justice and mercy ministries. Our communities should reflect heaven’s values of love, peace, healing and salvation. Acts 1:8 promises power to be witnesses “to the ends of the earth,” meaning in every cultural sphere including government, arts and media. God has chosen to work through redeemed people filled with His Spirit. Let us wake up to our high calling as fellow heirs with Christ (Rom 8:17), advancing God’s kingdom. The kingdom advances when we take hold of all he has given to establish His will everywhere.

Hymn:

Thy Kingdom Come, O God

1 Thy kingdom come, O God, thy rule, O Christ, begin; break with thine iron rod the tyrannies of sin.

2 Where is thy reign of peace and purity and love? When shall all hatred cease, as in the realms above?

3 When comes the promised time that war shall be no more, and lust, oppression, crime shall flee thy face before?

4 We pray thee, Lord, arise, and come in thy great might; revive our longing eyes, which languish for thy sight.

5 Men scorn thy sacred name, and wolves devour thy fold; by many deeds of shame we learn that love grows cold.

6 O’er lands both near and far thick darkness broodeth yet: arise, O Morning Star, arise, and never set!

Lyrics: Lewis Hensley, Music: L. G. Hayne

closing prayer

Heavenly Father, we thank You for calling us into the privileged role of stewarding Your kingdom purposes here on earth. Fill us afresh with vision and passion for seeing Your will done in every sphere. As we close this time reflecting on being executors of Your reign, empower us by Your Spirit to step boldly into all you have for us. May the inspired ideas stirred within be translated into concrete actions this week that spread Your glory. Use us as Your hands and feet to bring lasting transformation wherever You call us to minister. We ask that You guide our steps and grant us opportunities to represent You well. May people see Christ and come to know His salvation. May Your kingdom come and will be done through us, to Your great glory. We pray in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.

ABOUT OUR MINISTRY

We are a non-denominational Bible-believing Christian Ministry trained and equipped at the Christian Leaders Institute. Even though our Ministry is based on God's Word, the Bible, you need to approach our teachings like the Bereans and always study the Bible yourself to see if what we teach is aligned with what is written in the Bible.

Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true. Acts 17:11 NIV

We are only humans who 'stumble in many ways' (James 3:2) and we only 'know in part and we prophesy in part' (1 Corinthians 13:9).
