Day 30: The Foolishness of the Cross Over Man’s Wisdom
Opening Prayer
Heavenly Father, we come before You acknowledging that Your ways are higher than ours and Your thoughts beyond what we could imagine. You have shown the depth of Your love and power through the seeming foolishness of the cross. Help us embrace the wisdom revealed there rather than clinging to human understanding. May Your Spirit open our eyes daily to see all things in light of Calvary. As we spend time in Your word, increase our awe for the miracle of redemption won through Christ’s suffering. Reveal to us fresh insights from Your perspective. And strengthen our faith that the message of a crucified God will never lose its significance. We pray in the powerful name of Jesus. Amen.
Scripture Reading and Reflection
1 Corinthians 2:1-5 KJV
And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God.
For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.
And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling.
And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:
That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.
Reflection:
God’s ways are not our ways. What the world deems foolish, He uses for our salvation. The cross of Christ stands as the ultimate example of God’s wisdom surpassing all human logic. To the Greeks, a crucified Messiah was scandalous and meaningless. To the Jews, it was a stumbling block they could not accept. And yet, on Calvary God displayed His glory in the deepest form of humility – willingly laying down His life to redeem sinners. The preaching of a crucified Savior has always been offensive to human pride. We want to believe we can achieve salvation through our good works or wisdom. But God confounds the wise by completing our redemption through the voluntary sacrifice of His own Son. The cross makes it crystal clear – we contribute nothing to our salvation apart from faith. It is only through embracing this seeming paradox that we “become wise.”As believers, may we never lose wonder at the majesty and grace revealed through Christ’s death. Though the message continues convicting the world, God graciously illuminates souls to comprehend the perfect wisdom demonstrated at Calvary. There we find the only truth that truly satisfies – God’s love freely given to all who trust in the crucified One.
Hymn:
Vain, Delusive World, Adieu
1 Vain, delusive world, adieu, With all of creature good; Only Jesus I pursue, Who bought me with his blood, All thy pleasures I forego, I trample on thy wealth and pride, Only Jesus will I know, And Jesus crucified.
2 Here will I set up my rest; My fluctuating heart From the haven of his breast, Shall never more depart, Whither should a sinner go? His wounds for me stand open wide; Only Jesus will I know, And Jesus crucified.
3 Him to know is life and peace, And pleasure without end; This is all my happiness, On Jesus to depend, Daily in his grace to grow, And ever in his faith abide, Only Jesus will I know, And Jesus crucified.
4 O that I could all invite, This saving truth to prove; Show the length, the breadth, the height, And depth of Jesus’ love. Fain I would to sinners show, The blood by faith alone applied, Only Jesus will I know, And Jesus crucified.
Lyrics: Charles Wesley, Music: William H. Oakley

ABOUT OUR MINISTRY
We are a non-denominational Bible-believing Christian Ministry trained and equipped at the Christian Leaders Institute. Even though our Ministry is based on God's Word, the Bible, you need to approach our teachings like the Bereans and always study the Bible yourself to see if what we teach is aligned with what is written in the Bible.
Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true. Acts 17:11 NIV
We are only humans who 'stumble in many ways' (James 3:2) and we only 'know in part and we prophesy in part' (1 Corinthians 13:9).
