Day 32: We Are Legal Heirs of God
Opening Prayer
Heavenly Father, we stand in awe that You would call us Your children and make us joint heirs with Your own Son. Though we are but dust, by Your grace through faith in Jesus we have received the spirit of adoption. As we gather now to reflect on this amazing truth, open our understanding. Help us truly comprehend the immense privilege and responsibilities that come with being Your legal heirs. May Your Spirit stir gratitude and purity within us as those who will one day receive an eternal weight of glory beyond all measure. As we behold with unveiled faces Your glory in Christ, transform us more into His likeness from glory to glory. We ask through the beloved Son in whom we have redemption and access in Your presence. Amen.
Scripture Reading and Reflection
Romans 8:17 KJV
And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.
Reflection:
Through Christ, God adopts us into His family as beloved children. No longer slaves, we cry “Abba, Father” (Gal. 4:6; Rom. 8:15). By grace through faith in the Son, we have received “the spirit of adoption” (Rom. 8:15), a revelation of tender, familial relationship with the Creator. But God does not merely make us children – He designates us full heirs as well. As Paul writes, “if children, then heirs – heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ” (Rom. 8:17). Having received adoption, the rights and privileges of sonship are ours. We find our eternal security and dignity rooted not in human effort but solely in our new identity in the beloved Son (Eph. 1:5-6). Jesus, as “the heir of all things” (Heb. 1:2), graciously shares His glorious inheritance with His spiritual brothers and sisters (Rom. 8:32). The blessings freely given to Him – righteousness, life, an unshakable kingdom (Heb. 12:28) – are meant for joint enjoyment by the redeemed family. And so one day we will receive, alongside Christ, “an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading” (1 Pet. 1:4). May reflecting on being not only children but legal heirs of God instill profound wonder, joy and holiness. He makes sinners sons and assigns us a portion with the Firstborn Son – all through His lavish grace alone.Hymn:
Heirs and Joint Heirs
1 Heir of a mighty King, heir to a throne, Why art thou wandering sad and alone? Heir to the love of God, heir to his grace, Rise to the privilege, claiming thy place.
Refrain: Heirs! we are joint-heirs with Jesus our Lord! Heirs of the covenant, found in his word! Rise to thy privilege, heir to his grace! Heir to the love of God, Rise, claim thy place.
2 Heir of a Conqueror, why dost thou fear? Foes cannot trouble thee when he is near; Child of the promises, be not oppressed, Claim what belongs to thee, find sweetest rest. [Refrain]
3 Heir of the King of kings, never repine, Talk not of poverty, riches are thine; Heir of the Holy One, canst thou not see Treasures unbounded are waiting for thee. [Refrain]
4 Heir by inheritance! child of thy God! Right to thy sonship is found in his word; Walk with the noble ones, never alone; Prince of the Royal Blood come to thy throne. [Refrain]

Applying and Taking Action
As we conclude, consider purposeful ways to live as God’s heirs:
- Respond to any temptation to doubt your security by asserting joy in being fully accepted in Christ.
- Look for daily opportunities to share encouragement about heaven’s promised blessings with fellow believers.
- Approach this week’s decisions and priorities grounded in eternity rather than temporal pressures.
- Seek the Holy Spirit’s guidance on growing in Christlikeness through daily surrender and service.
- Commit to pointing pre-Christian friends to Christ as the only way into this adoption and the coming kingdom.
May your posture as one eternally secure in God’s love through Christ empower you to humbly share that hope.
Closing Prayer
Heavenly Father, we thank You for the indescribable riches we have in You through Christ. As Your heirs, You have given us an inheritance more valuable than anything this world contains. Help us to fully comprehend and be transformed by the immensity of Your grace towards us. May we daily walk in the power of who we are in You, with confidence in our eternal security and purpose. And may the blessed hope of an imperishable future glory embolden us to shine Your light in every area of our lives. Use us as vessels to spread Your glory through grateful proclamation of the gospel. We ask in the strong name of our Co-Heir and Brother, Jesus, Amen.

ABOUT OUR MINISTRY
We are a non-denominational Bible-believing Christian Ministry trained and equipped at the Christian Leaders Institute. Even though our Ministry is based on God's Word, the Bible, you need to approach our teachings like the Bereans and always study the Bible yourself to see if what we teach is aligned with what is written in the Bible.
Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true. Acts 17:11 NIV
We are only humans who 'stumble in many ways' (James 3:2) and we only 'know in part and we prophesy in part' (1 Corinthians 13:9).
