Day 28: We Must Confess Our Faith

Opening Prayer

opening prayer

Dear Heavenly Father, You call us to openly acknowledge our faith in You through both words and actions. Yet how easy it is for us to remain silent or blend in when others question or mock who You are. Today as we reflect on unashamedly confessing Christ before men, strengthen our resolve.

Deepen within us a boldness and courage that comes from knowing Your unconditional love and saving power. Give us compassion and wisdom to speak Your truth with gentleness yet clarity. As we study Your Word, reveal any area where fear of man has dimmed our willingness to stand up for You.

By Your Spirit, stir conviction to openly live according to Your ways no matter the reaction of people around us. Form within us persevering hope in Your promises that look beyond what others think or say. May this time reviewing Your call to public confession renew our passion to honor You with all of life. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Scripture Reading and Reflection

proclaim faith

Romans 10:9-10 KJV

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Reflection:

As believers, we are called to publicly acknowledge our faith in Christ as our Lord and Savior. By confessing Jesus before men, we identify with Him and His kingdom. Our confession relates us to Jesus as our great High Priest before God. The Bible tells us “if you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved” (Romans 10:9). Confessing our faith also saves us. Confession is an outward sign of the faith in our hearts. Additionally, Jesus said “whoever acknowledges me before others, I will also acknowledge before my Father in heaven” (Matthew 10:32). Faith is not primarily a doctrinal issue but a matter of character. If we don’t confess our faith, Jesus cannot be our High Priest who intercedes for us before the Father. The writer of Hebrews encourages us to “fix our thoughts on Jesus, whom we acknowledge as our apostle and high priest” (Hebrews 3:1). We are also told to “draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings” (Hebrews 10:22). Open confession strengthens our inner conviction and faith. When we openly proclaim our faith in Christ despite opposition, it honors our Lord and brings glory to God.

Hymn:

With Grateful Hearts Our Faith Professing

1 With grateful hearts our faith professing, we ask You, Lord, come to our aid, That we, our common faith confessing, May keep the vows that we have made.

2 We know that in Your true providing The young and old to Christ belong; Lord, help us to be wise in guiding, And make us in example strong.

3 Give to the parents love and patience, Each home with Christian graces fill. Protect our children in temptations, And keep them safe in childhood’s ill.

4 Accept, O Lord, our dedication To fill with love the growing mind, That in this church and congregation The young a faith for life may find.

Applying and Taking Action

applying and taking action

As we close, consider specific ways to openly acknowledge Christ:

  • Who can you tell about your faith this week? Plan to verbally share how Jesus saves.
  • Look for opportunities to stand up for righteousness by gently speaking truth. Pray for boldness.
  • Seek a fellow believer facing pressures to deny Christ. Encourage them by sharing how meditating on confession strengthened you.
  • Ask God to bring conviction over any area of compromise. Determine to please Him above all opinions.
  • Consider volunteering with a ministry where your witness for Christ can shine through loving service.
  • Make worshiping Jesus through song, prayer or creative works a priority wherever circumstances lead.

Responding courageously to promptings of the Spirit transforms confession from words to deeds. May honoring Christ boldly through obedience be your aim.

Closing Prayer

closing prayer

Heavenly Father, we thank You for calling us out of darkness into Your marvelous light. Fill us with boldness and conviction to unashamedly confess You before others. When fears of man try to creep in and deter us from openly praising You, give us courage to stand firm in our faith. May the truths meditated on today strengthen our resolve to identify with Christ whatever the cost. As we depart this time, guide our steps and conversations this week to unflinchingly acknowledge You as Lord. May our lives bring You glory through obediently confessing faith in Jesus with both our words and actions. In His precious name we pray, Amen.

ABOUT OUR MINISTRY

We are a non-denominational Bible-believing Christian Ministry trained and equipped at the Christian Leaders Institute. Even though our Ministry is based on God's Word, the Bible, you need to approach our teachings like the Bereans and always study the Bible yourself to see if what we teach is aligned with what is written in the Bible.

Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true. Acts 17:11 NIV

We are only humans who 'stumble in many ways' (James 3:2) and we only 'know in part and we prophesy in part' (1 Corinthians 13:9).
