Weekly Creative Devotional

Opening Prayer

Heavenly Father, we come before you with hearts full of gratitude and anticipation. As we embark on this creative devotional journey, open our minds to your Word and our spirits to your presence. Help us experience your love in new and profound ways. May this time of reflection and creativity draw us closer to you. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

READING

1 John 4:16

So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and anyone who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in them.

REFLECTION

Reflect on the profound truth in 1 John 4:16. Meditate on the fact that God is love and that He has a perfect and unconditional love for each one of us. Consider the significance of knowing and believing in this love and how it can transform our lives. Ponder the privilege of abiding in God’s love and allowing His love to abide in you.

MEMORIZING THE VERSE

Write down and memorize 1 John 4:16. Let this verse be etched in your heart, reminding you of God’s love and the relationship you have with Him. Meditate on this truth throughout the week, allowing it to shape your thoughts and actions.

CREATING AND MEDITATING

In this part of the devotional, you have the option to choose between two creative activities:
  1. Gratitude Journal: Start a gratitude journal where you can write down things you are thankful for each day. Reflect on how God’s love is expressed through the blessings and people in your life. Take time to thank Him for His love and goodness.
  2. Art of Love: Create a piece of artwork that represents God’s love. You can use paints, pencils, or digital tools to express the theme of love and God’s presence in your life. Let your creativity flow as you contemplate His infinite love.

TAKING ACTION AND APPLYING

Consider practical ways you can embrace and share God’s love with others:
  1. Acts of Kindness: Look for opportunities to show love and kindness to those around you. Offer a helping hand, a listening ear, or a word of encouragement. Let God’s love shine through your actions.
  2. Forgiveness and Grace: Extend forgiveness and grace to those who may have wronged you. As God has shown His love to us, let us also extend love and understanding to others.
  3. Sharing God’s Love: Share the message of God’s love with someone who may need encouragement or support. Use your words to uplift and inspire others to experience the love of God.

Hymn

The Love of God

1.

The love of God is greater far Than tongue or pen can ever tell; It goes beyond the highest star, And reaches to the lowest hell; The guilty pair, bowed down with care, God gave His Son to win; His erring child He reconciled, And pardoned from his sin.

Refrain: Oh, love of God, how rich and pure! How measureless and strong! It shall forevermore endure— The saints’ and angels’ song.

2. When hoary time shall pass away, And earthly thrones and kingdoms fall, When men who here refuse to pray, On rocks and hills and mountains call, God’s love so sure, shall still endure, All measureless and strong; Redeeming grace to Adam’s race— The saints’ and angels’ song.

3. Could we with ink the ocean fill, And were the skies of parchment made, Were every stalk on earth a quill, And every man a scribe by trade; To write the love of God above Would drain the ocean dry; Nor could the scroll contain the whole, Though stretched from sky to sky.

Closing Prayer

Heavenly Father, we are in awe of your love for us. As we conclude this time of reflection and creativity, we ask that your love would continue to dwell in us and flow through us. Empower us to walk in love and to share your love with others. May our lives be a testimony of your unfailing love. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

If you have been blessed by this Creative Devotional, please share it with others. Many thanks. God bless you!

ABOUT OUR MINISTRY

We are a non-denominational Bible-believing Christian ministry trained and equipped at the Christian Leaders Institute. Even though our ministry is based on God's Word, the Bible, you need to approach our teachings like the Bereans and always study the Bible yourself to see if what we teach is aligned with what is written in the Bible.

Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true. Acts 17:11 NIV

We are only humans who 'stumble in many ways' (James 3:2) and we only 'know in part and we prophesy in part' (1 Corinthians 13:9).
