Opening Prayer
Gracious Father, we gather before you today with hearts open to your Word. As we explore the story of Jonah, may we discover the depth of your grace and the beauty of second chances. Speak to us through your Word and inspire us to embrace your mercy in our own lives. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
READING
Jonah 3:1-3
Then the word of the Lord came to Jonah the second time, saying, ‘Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and call out against it the message that I tell you.’ So Jonah arose and went to Nineveh, according to the word of the Lord.
REFLECTION
Reflect on the passage from Jonah 3:1-3. Consider Jonah’s initial disobedience and how God granted him a second chance to fulfill His calling. Think about times in your life when you’ve experienced God’s gracious second chances.MEMORIZING THE VERSE
Write down Jonah 3:1-3 and commit it to memory. Let it serve as a reminder of God’s willingness to give us another opportunity to follow His path.CREATING AND MEDITATING
In this part of the devotional, you have the option to choose between two creative activities:- Artistic Reflection: Create a piece of art that portrays the theme of second chances and God’s grace. Use your creativity to capture the essence of this biblical story.
- Journaling: Write in your journal about a moment in your life when you received a second chance or witnessed God’s grace at work. Reflect on how this experience impacted your faith journey.
TAKING ACTION AND APPLYING
Consider practical ways to apply the message of God’s grace and second chances:- Forgiveness: Reflect on any grudges or unforgiveness in your heart and seek to extend forgiveness to those who may have wronged you.
- Reconciliation: If there are broken relationships in your life, consider taking steps toward reconciliation, guided by God’s example of second chances.
- Service: Find opportunities to serve in your community or church, extending God’s grace to those in need.
- Prayer for Guidance: Pray for God’s guidance in areas where you may have strayed from His path, seeking His direction for a fresh start.
Hymn
Grace Greater Than Our Sin
1.
Marvelous grace of our loving Lord, Grace that exceeds our sin and our guilt! Yonder on Calvary’s mount outpoured, There where the blood of the Lamb was spilled.
Refrain: Grace, grace, God’s grace, Grace that will pardon and cleanse within; Grace, grace, God’s grace, Grace that is greater than all our sin!
2.
Sin and despair, like the sea waves cold, Threaten the soul with infinite loss; Grace that is greater, yes, grace untold, Points to the refuge, the mighty cross.
Refrain: Grace, grace, God’s grace, Grace that will pardon and cleanse within; Grace, grace, God’s grace, Grace that is greater than all our sin!
3.
Dark is the stain that we cannot hide. What can we do to wash it away? Look! There is flowing a crimson tide, Brighter than snow you may be today.
Refrain: Grace, grace, God’s grace, Grace that will pardon and cleanse within; Grace, grace, God’s grace, Grace that is greater than all our sin!
4.
Marvelous, infinite, matchless grace, Freely bestowed on all who believe! You that are longing to see His face, Will you this moment His grace receive?
Refrain: Grace, grace, God’s grace, Grace that will pardon and cleanse within; Grace, grace, God’s grace, Grace that is greater than all our sin!
Words: Julia H. Johnston, Music: Daniel B. Towner
Closing Prayer
Heavenly Father, we thank you for the powerful story of Jonah, a reminder of your boundless grace and the beauty of second chances. As we conclude this time of reflection and creativity, may we embrace your mercy and extend it to others. Guide us in the path of obedience and renewal. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

ABOUT OUR MINISTRY
We are a non-denominational Bible-believing Christian Ministry trained and equipped at the Christian Leaders Institute and Axx Bible College. Even though our Ministry is based on God's Word, the Bible, you need to approach our teachings like the Bereans and always study the Bible yourself to see if what we teach is aligned with what is written in the Bible.
Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true. Acts 17:11 NIV
We are only humans who 'stumble in many ways' (James 3:2) and we only 'know in part and we prophesy in part' (1 Corinthians 13:9).
