Weekly Creative Devotional

Opening Prayer

Gracious God, as we gather in Your presence today, we thank You for the promise of restoration and renewal found in Your Word. Open our hearts to receive Your message from the book of Joel, and guide us in embracing the hope of Your restoring power. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

READING

Joel 2:25

I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten, the hopper, the destroyer, and the cutter, my great army, which I sent among you.

REFLECTION

Reflect on the profound promise of restoration in Joel 2:25. Consider the imagery of the devastation caused by the locusts and how God’s assurance of restoration speaks to the areas of our lives that have been ravaged by hardship and trials. Ponder how God’s desire to restore what was lost demonstrates His compassion and faithfulness to His people.

MEMORIZING THE VERSE

Commit Joel 2:25 to memory, allowing these words to serve as a reminder of God’s promise to restore and renew. Let it be a source of encouragement during times of difficulty, reminding you of God’s faithfulness to bring restoration to every area of your life.

CREATING AND MEDITATING

Choose a creative activity: Option 1: Create a visual representation of restoration, such as a collage or artwork, depicting the theme of God’s promise to restore what was lost. Option 2: Meditate on Joel 2:25, reflecting on the areas of your life that are in need of restoration. Spend time in prayer, surrendering those areas to God and trusting in His promise to bring renewal.

TAKING ACTION AND APPLYING

Identify areas in your life where you have experienced loss or devastation. Surrender them to God in prayer, trusting in His promise to restore and renew. Take practical steps to align your life with God’s will, seeking His guidance in the process of restoration.

Hymn

Healer of Our Every Ill

Refrain: Healer of our every ill, light of each tomorrow, give us peace beyond our fear, and hope beyond our sorrow.

1 You who know our fears and sadness, grace us with your peace and gladness; Spirit of all comfort, fill our hearts. [Refrain]

2 In the pain and joy beholding how your grace is still unfolding, give us all your vision, God of love. [Refrain]

3 Give us strength to love each other, every sister, every brother; Spirit of all kindness, be our guide. [Refrain]

4 You who know each thought and feeling, teach us all your way of healing; Spirit of compassion, fill each heart. [Refrain]

ABOUT OUR MINISTRY

We are a non-denominational Bible-believing Christian Ministry trained and equipped at the Christian Leaders Institute. Even though our Ministry is based on God's Word, the Bible, you need to approach our teachings like the Bereans and always study the Bible yourself to see if what we teach is aligned with what is written in the Bible.

Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true. Acts 17:11 NIV

We are only humans who 'stumble in many ways' (James 3:2) and we only 'know in part and we prophesy in part' (1 Corinthians 13:9).
