Weekly Creative Devotional

Opening Prayer

Heavenly Father, we come before you with hearts open to receive your Word. As we embark on this creative devotional journey, we seek to rest in your provision and trust your guidance. Open our minds to new insights, and may our creativity be a way to glorify you. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

READING

Matthew 6:25-26

Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?

REFLECTION

Reflect on the words of Jesus in Matthew 6:25-26. Consider the encouragement to let go of anxiety and worry, trusting in God’s provision. Ponder the example of the birds of the air, how they are cared for by their heavenly Father. Contemplate the reassurance of being of great value to God and how this truth can bring peace to your heart.

MEMORIZING THE VERSE

Write down and memorize Matthew 6:25-26. Let this verse be a constant reminder to rest in God’s provision and to release anxieties to Him. Meditate on His care for you as you go about your daily activities.

CREATING AND MEDITATING

In this part of the devotional, you have the option to choose between two creative activities:
  1. Nature Journaling: Take a nature walk and observe the beauty of God’s creation. Bring a sketchbook or journal to record the sights and sounds you encounter. Use this time to meditate on God’s care for the smallest details of His creation, including you.
  2. Thankful Collage: Create a collage using images, words, and phrases from magazines or printed materials that represent the things you are thankful for in your life. Use this visual expression to focus on God’s provision and blessings.

TAKING ACTION AND APPLYING

Consider practical ways you can rest in God’s provision in your daily life:
  1. Trust in His Timing: When facing uncertainty, remember that God’s timing is perfect. Surrender your plans and desires to Him, trusting that He knows what is best for you.
  2. Give Thanks: Develop a habit of giving thanks to God throughout the day. Take moments of gratitude for His provision, even in the small things.
  3. Simplify and Prioritize: Reevaluate your priorities and simplify areas of your life that may cause unnecessary stress. Seek God’s guidance in aligning your life with His purpose.
  4. Serve with a Generous Heart: Show your trust in God’s provision by generously serving others. Look for opportunities to be a blessing to those in need and share God’s love through acts of kindness.

Hymn

His Eye Is on the Sparrow

1.

Why should I feel discouraged, why should the shadows come, Why should my heart be lonely, and long for heaven and home, When Jesus is my portion? My constant friend is He: His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me; His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.

Refrain: I sing because I’m happy, I sing because I’m free, For His eye is on the sparrow, And I know He watches me.

2.

“Let not your heart be troubled,” His tender word I hear, And resting on His goodness, I lose my doubts and fears; Though by the path He leadeth, but one step I may see; His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me; His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.

Refrain: I sing because I’m happy, I sing because I’m free, For His eye is on the sparrow, And I know He watches me.

3.

Whenever I am tempted, whenever clouds arise, When songs give place to sighing, when hope within me dies, I draw the closer to Him, from care He sets me free; His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me; His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.

Refrain: I sing because I’m happy, I sing because I’m free, For His eye is on the sparrow, And I know He watches me.

Closing Prayer

Heavenly Father, we are grateful for your provision and care. As we conclude this time of reflection and creativity, help us rest in the assurance of your love. Guide us in trusting your timing and your plans for our lives. May we find peace in knowing that you provide for us, just as you care for the birds of the air. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

ABOUT OUR MINISTRY

We are a non-denominational Bible-believing Christian Ministry trained and equipped at the Christian Leaders Institute. Even though our Ministry is based on God's Word, the Bible, you need to approach our teachings like the Bereans and always study the Bible yourself to see if what we teach is aligned with what is written in the Bible.

Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true. Acts 17:11 NIV

We are only humans who 'stumble in many ways' (James 3:2) and we only 'know in part and we prophesy in part' (1 Corinthians 13:9).
