Weekly Creative Devotional

Opening Prayer

Heavenly Father, We thank You for the gift of selfless love and the example of those who live lives of service and sacrifice. Teach us to honor one another and walk in humility, placing others before ourselves as an act of worship and love. Help us to live in a way that brings glory to You. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

READING

Romans 12:10

Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor.

REFLECTION

To “outdo one another in showing honor” is a call to live generously – not only with our resources, but with our words, our respect, and our time. It’s about seeing the value in others and lifting them up.

This kind of honor goes beyond politeness; it reflects the heart of Christ, who humbled Himself to serve and uplift. Whether we remember the legacy of someone who gave greatly or simply look for ways to honor those around us, we are participating in something sacred – a life that puts love into action.

MEMORIZING THE VERSE

Committing to Heart:
Write out Romans 12:10 in your journal or create a decorative verse card. Add symbols of love and honor – such as hearts, olive branches, or crowns – and reflect on what honoring others looks like in your daily life.

CREATING AND MEDITATING

Choose a creative activity:

Option 1: Honor Heart Craft
Draw or cut out heart shapes and write on each one the name of a person you want to honor this week. Inside the heart, write one thing you admire or appreciate about them. Display these somewhere visible or give them as encouragement.

Option 2: Acts of Honor Journal Page
Create a page in your journal titled “Ways I Can Show Honor.” Brainstorm and write down 5–7 practical ways to show love and honor to people in your life this week – whether family, friends, neighbors, or even strangers.

TAKING ACTION AND APPLYING

Be intentional about showing honor this week. Speak words of encouragement, listen patiently, or serve quietly. These simple acts reflect Christ’s love and plant seeds of peace and dignity in the hearts of others.

Hymn

Beloved Community of God

1 Beloved community of God, in vision seen, a perfect whole; all that we have we pledge to thee, our pow’rs of body, mind, and soul.

2 The healthy frame, the steady nerve, the active pulse of flesh and blood, with these we dedicate to thee our manhood and our womanhood.

3 All gains of skill and fruits of thought, whate’er we know, whate’er we feel, humbly we bring that we may prove true servants of the common weal.

4 Fair visions of the good and true wrought into speech and kindly deed, these be our sacrament of love, our witness to the Christly creed.

5 King of the kingdom of our dreams, from dreams we turn to take our part in that beloved community where love is law in every heart.

Words: Ernest Dodgshun, Music: George Job Elvey

Closing Prayer

Father God,
You have shown us what true honor and love look like through the life of Your Son. Help us to follow His example by lifting others up, honoring them with our words and actions. Let our love be sincere, our kindness be generous, and our lives be a testimony of Your grace. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

ABOUT OUR MINISTRY

We are a non-denominational Bible-believing Christian Ministry trained and equipped at the Christian Leaders Institute and Axx Bible College. Even though our Ministry is based on God's Word, the Bible, you need to approach our teachings like the Bereans and always study the Bible yourself to see if what we teach is aligned with what is written in the Bible.

Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true. Acts 17:11 NIV

We are only humans who 'stumble in many ways' (James 3:2) and we only 'know in part and we prophesy in part' (1 Corinthians 13:9).
