Weekly Creative Devotional

Opening Prayer

Heavenly Father, as we embark on this journey of faith, we seek your guidance and inspiration. Help us to walk in the footsteps of those who have gone before us, living lives of unwavering faith. Open our hearts to receive your Word and empower us to apply it to our lives. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

READING

Hebrews 11:1

Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.

REFLECTION

Reflect on the verse from Hebrews 11:1. Consider the profound definition of faith it provides: the assurance of things hoped for and the conviction of things not seen. Ponder how faith has played a role in your life and the lives of those you admire for their unwavering trust in God.

MEMORIZING THE VERSE

Write down Hebrews 11:1 and commit it to memory. Let it serve as a constant reminder of the nature of faith and its importance in our walk with God.

CREATING AND MEDITATING

In this part of the devotional, you have the option to choose between two creative activities:
  1. Faith Journal: Begin a faith journal where you document moments in your life when you have seen God’s faithfulness, even when circumstances seemed uncertain. Reflect on how these experiences have deepened your faith.
  2. Visual Art: Create a piece of visual art (painting, drawing, or digital art) that represents what faith means to you. Let the colors and images reflect your personal journey of faith.

TAKING ACTION AND APPLYING

Consider practical ways to apply the lessons of faith to your daily life:
  1. Daily Faith Practice: Develop a daily faith practice that includes prayer, Scripture reading, and moments of reflection on God’s faithfulness.
  2. Acts of Kindness: Look for opportunities to show acts of kindness and love to others, reflecting your faith in action.
  3. Mentorship: Seek a mentor or become a mentor to someone in your faith community, sharing your experiences and insights about walking in faith.
  4. Community Worship: Attend a worship service or join a small group to connect with others on their own faith journeys.

Hymn

My Faith Looks Up to Thee

1.

My faith looks up to Thee, Thou Lamb of Calvary, Savior divine! Now hear me while I pray, Take all my guilt away, Oh, let me from this day Be wholly Thine!

2.

May Thy rich grace impart Strength to my fainting heart, My zeal inspire! As Thou hast died for me, Oh, may my love to Thee Pure, warm, and changeless be, A living fire!

3.

While life’s dark maze I tread, And griefs around me spread, Be Thou my guide; Bid darkness turn to day, Wipe sorrow’s tears away, Nor let me ever stray From Thee aside.

4.

When ends life’s transient dream, When death’s cold, sullen stream Shall o’er me roll, Blest Savior, then, in love, Fear and distrust remove; Oh, bear me safe above, A ransomed soul!

Closing Prayer

Heavenly Father, we thank you for the gift of faith and for the inspiring examples of faith found in your Word. As we conclude this time of reflection and creativity, may our faith grow stronger, and may we continue to walk in the footsteps of those who have gone before us, trusting in your promises. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

ABOUT OUR MINISTRY

We are a non-denominational Bible-believing Christian Ministry trained and equipped at the Christian Leaders Institute. Even though our Ministry is based on God's Word, the Bible, you need to approach our teachings like the Bereans and always study the Bible yourself to see if what we teach is aligned with what is written in the Bible.

Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true. Acts 17:11 NIV

We are only humans who 'stumble in many ways' (James 3:2) and we only 'know in part and we prophesy in part' (1 Corinthians 13:9).
