Weekly Creative Devotional

Opening Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your steadfast presence in our lives. As we reflect on Your Word this week, help us to trust in Your promises and lean on Your strength. Remind us that no matter our circumstances, You are always with us. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

READING

Jeremiah 17:7-8

Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose trust is the Lord. He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit.

REFLECTION

In these verses, Jeremiah paints a vivid picture of a tree firmly rooted by streams of water, thriving even in times of heat and drought. This imagery reflects the life of someone who places their trust and hope fully in God. Just as the tree’s roots reach deep into the water for sustenance, we are called to anchor ourselves in God’s promises and presence. When challenges come, those who trust in God remain steady and fruitful. Their leaves stay green, and they continue to bear fruit even in difficult seasons. Trusting God doesn’t mean life will always be easy, but it does mean we have an unshakable foundation in Him. Consider:
  • How deeply rooted is your trust in God?
  • Are there areas of your life where you feel anxious or fearful? How can you surrender them to God this week?
  • In what ways can you remain fruitful even during seasons of challenge or uncertainty?

MEMORIZING THE VERSE

Focus on Jeremiah 17:7 (ESV): “Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose trust is the Lord.” Take time this week to let this verse dwell in your heart. Reflect on what it means to place your full trust in God, and ask Him to deepen your roots in His love and promises.

CREATING AND MEDITATING

Choose a creative activity: Option 1: Rooted in Trust Artwork. Create a drawing or painting of a tree by a stream. Include words or phrases from the verse, such as “trust,” “hope,” and “blessed.” As you create, reflect on how your trust in God sustains you during difficult times. Option 2: Scripture Meditation Journal. Write Jeremiah 17:7-8 in your journal. Spend time each day meditating on the imagery of the tree by the water. Write reflections about areas in your life where you need to trust God more and how you can remain steadfast in Him.

TAKING ACTION AND APPLYING

This week, focus on anchoring your trust more deeply in God. Start each day with a short prayer, asking God to strengthen your roots in Him. Look for opportunities to share your trust and hope with others – whether through a kind word, an act of service, or sharing your testimony.

Hymn

Through All the Changing Scenes of Life

1 Through all the changing scenes of life, in trouble and in joy, the praises of my God shall still my heart and tongue employ. Of his deliv’rance I will boast, till all that are distressed, from my example comfort take and lay their griefs to rest.

2 O magnify the LORD with me, exalt his holy name; when in distress to him I called, he to my rescue came. The hosts of God encamp around the dwellings of the just; deliv’rance he affords to all who in his promise trust.

3 O taste and see that he is good; experience will decide how blest are they, and only they who in the LORD confide. Fear him, you saints, and you will then have nothing else to fear; make serving him your sole delight, your wants shall be his care.

Closing Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for being our source of strength and hope. Help us to be like the tree planted by streams of water, deeply rooted in Your Word and unwavering in our trust. In times of drought and challenge, may we continue to bear fruit and glorify You. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

ABOUT OUR MINISTRY

We are a non-denominational Bible-believing Christian Ministry trained and equipped at the Christian Leaders Institute. Even though our Ministry is based on God's Word, the Bible, you need to approach our teachings like the Bereans and always study the Bible yourself to see if what we teach is aligned with what is written in the Bible.

Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true. Acts 17:11 NIV

We are only humans who 'stumble in many ways' (James 3:2) and we only 'know in part and we prophesy in part' (1 Corinthians 13:9).
