Weekly Creative Devotional

Opening Prayer

Gracious God, as we delve into the book of Ezekiel, open our eyes to the depths of Your love and faithfulness. Prepare our hearts to receive Your message of hope, even amidst judgment and despair. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

READING

Ezekiel 36:26

And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.

REFLECTION

Imagine a hardened heart, heavy and unfeeling. This is the image Ezekiel uses to describe the condition of God’s people. They have strayed from His path and face the consequences of their choices. However, in verse 36:26, God offers a glimmer of hope – the promise of a transformed heart. Consider:
  • Have you ever felt your heart grow hardened by life’s experiences?
  • What areas of your life might need a touch of God’s renewing presence?

MEMORIZING THE VERSE

Let Ezekiel 36:26 (ESV) be a beacon of hope throughout your week: “And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.” Hold onto this promise as a reminder of God’s transformative power.

CREATING AND MEDITATING

Choose a creative activity: Option 1: Create a “heart map.” Draw a heart shape and write down words or phrases that describe the current state of your own heart. Then, around the heart, write down what a transformed heart, filled with God’s love and spirit, might look like. Option 2: Reflect on a time when you experienced God’s forgiveness and renewal. Spend some time in quiet prayer, thanking Him for His transforming power and the hope He offers.

TAKING ACTION AND APPLYING

God desires to transform us from the inside out. This week, take a step towards letting go of any bitterness or negativity that might be hardening your heart. Practice forgiveness, offer compassion, and seek opportunities to show God’s love to others.

Hymn

Gracious God, My Heart Renew

1 Gracious God, my heart renew, make my spirit right and true; in your presence let me stay, by your Spirit show the way; your salvation’s joy impart, steadfast make my willing heart.

2 So shall sinners be restored and return to you, their Lord; Savior, all my guilt remove, and my tongue shall sing your love; touch my silent lips, O Lord, and my mouth shall praise accord.

3 Not the formal sacrifice has acceptance in your eyes; broken hearts are in your sight more than sacrificial rite; contrite spirit, pleading cries, you, O God, will not despise.

4 Prosper Zion in thy grace and her broken walls replace: then our righteous sacrifice shall delight your holy eyes; freewill offerings, gladly made, on your altar shall be laid.

Words: From The Psalter, Music: Gethsemane (Dykes) John B. Dykes

Closing Prayer

Dear Father in Heaven, we confess our hardened hearts and ask for Your transforming touch. Replace our stony indifference with a heart of flesh, open to Your love and ready to reflect Your light in the world. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

ABOUT OUR MINISTRY

We are a non-denominational Bible-believing Christian Ministry trained and equipped at the Christian Leaders Institute and Axx Bible College. Even though our Ministry is based on God's Word, the Bible, you need to approach our teachings like the Bereans and always study the Bible yourself to see if what we teach is aligned with what is written in the Bible.

Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true. Acts 17:11 NIV

We are only humans who 'stumble in many ways' (James 3:2) and we only 'know in part and we prophesy in part' (1 Corinthians 13:9).
