Weekly Creative Devotional
Opening Prayer
Loving Father, as we gather in your presence, we seek to understand the profound gift of compassion. Open our hearts to the needs of others and guide us in emulating your boundless love. May this creative devotional journey inspire us to extend compassion to those around us. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
READING
Colossians 3:12
Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience.
REFLECTION
Reflect on the verse from Colossians 3:12. Contemplate the qualities that define compassion: a heart of kindness, humility, meekness, and patience. Consider the importance of actively putting on these virtues in your interactions with others.MEMORIZING THE VERSE
Write down the verse, Colossians 3:12, and commit it to memory. Let it serve as a reminder of your call to exhibit compassionate characteristics in your daily life.CREATING AND MEDITATING
In this part of the devotional, you have the option to choose between two creative activities:- Compassion Art: Create an art piece that visually represents compassion. Use colors and images that evoke feelings of empathy and understanding. Reflect on the power of compassion as you create.
- Compassion Journal: Start a compassion journal to record instances where you encountered the needs of others and responded with kindness. Write about how these experiences affected you and deepened your understanding of compassion.
TAKING ACTION AND APPLYING
Consider practical ways to embody compassion:- Active Listening: Practice active listening when someone shares their thoughts or struggles. Show genuine interest and empathy, without judgment.
- Random Acts of Kindness: Perform small acts of kindness for those around you, whether it’s offering a word of encouragement, holding the door open, or helping someone with a task.
- Volunteer Opportunities: Explore volunteer opportunities in your community, such as serving at a shelter or participating in community events that support those in need.
- Prayer for Compassion: Dedicate time in your daily prayers to ask for a heart of compassion and the wisdom to recognize opportunities to extend kindness.
Hymn
Lord, Whose Love in Humble Service
1.
Lord, whose love in humble service Bore the weight of human need, Who upon the cross, forsaken, Offered mercy’s perfect deed, We, your servants, bring the worship Not of voice alone, but heart, Consecrating to your purpose Every gift that you impart.
2.
Still your children wander homeless; Still the hungry cry for bread; Still the captives long for freedom; Still in grief we mourn our dead. As, O Lord, your deep compassion Healed the sick and freed the soul, Use the love your Spirit kindles Still to save and make us whole.
3.
As we worship, grant us vision, Till your love’s revealing light In its height and depth and greatness Dawns upon our quickened sight, Making known the needs and burdens Your compassion bids us bear, Stirring us to faithful service, Your abundant life to share.
4.
Called by worship to your service, Forth in your dear name we go, To the child, the youth, the aged, Love in living deeds to show; Hope and health, good will and comfort, Council, aid, and peace we give, That your children, Lord, in freedom May your mercy know and live.

ABOUT OUR MINISTRY
We are a non-denominational Bible-believing Christian Ministry trained and equipped at the Christian Leaders Institute and Axx Bible College. Even though our Ministry is based on God's Word, the Bible, you need to approach our teachings like the Bereans and always study the Bible yourself to see if what we teach is aligned with what is written in the Bible.
Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true. Acts 17:11 NIV
We are only humans who 'stumble in many ways' (James 3:2) and we only 'know in part and we prophesy in part' (1 Corinthians 13:9).
