Weekly Creative Devotional

Opening Prayer

Heavenly Father, we come before you in recognition of the incredible gift of forgiveness that you have extended to us through your Son, Jesus Christ. As we delve into this devotional focused on forgiveness, help us understand its transformative power and how it reflects your boundless love. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

READING

Colossians 3:13

Bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive.

REFLECTION

Reflect on the verse from Colossians 3:13. Contemplate the call to forgive others as the Lord has forgiven us. Consider the weight of forgiveness in your own life and how it can lead to healing and reconciliation.

MEMORIZING THE VERSE

Write down the verse, Colossians 3:13, and commit it to memory. Let it serve as a constant reminder of the importance of forgiveness in your relationships.

CREATING AND MEDITATING

In this part of the devotional, you have the option to choose between two creative activities:
  1. Forgiveness Art: Create an art piece that visually represents the concept of forgiveness. Use colors, images, and symbols that convey the idea of letting go and extending grace. As you create, meditate on the power of forgiveness in your life.
  2. Forgiveness Letter: Write a letter to someone you need to forgive or seek forgiveness from. Pour out your thoughts and emotions on paper, and if possible, send the letter as an act of reconciliation and healing.

TAKING ACTION AND APPLYING

Consider practical ways to embrace and apply the power of forgiveness:
  1. Reconciliation: If there is someone you need to forgive or seek forgiveness from, take steps toward reconciliation, even if it’s a difficult conversation.
  2. Prayer: Spend time in prayer, asking God to help you forgive those who have wronged you and to grant you the grace to seek forgiveness when needed.
  3. Release Resentment: Identify any lingering resentment in your heart and actively work on letting go of it, recognizing that forgiveness is a choice and a process.
  4. Extend Grace: Extend grace and forgiveness to others, even when it’s challenging, knowing that it reflects God’s love and mercy.

Hymn

Forgive Our Sins as We Forgive

1.

Forgive our sins as we forgive, You taught us, Lord, to pray; But You alone can grant us grace To live the words we say.

2.

How can Your pardon reach and bless The unforgiving heart That broods on wrongs and will not let Old bitterness depart?

3.

In blazing light Your cross reveals The truth we dimly knew: How trifling others’ debts to us; How great our debt to You!

4.

Lord, cleanse the depths within our souls And bid resentment cease; Then, by Your mercy reconciled, Our lives will spread Your peace.

Words: Rosamond E. Herklots, Music: Kentucky Harmony, 1820

Closing Prayer

Heavenly Father, we thank you for the gift of forgiveness that we have received through Christ. As we conclude this time of reflection and creativity, may we embrace the power of forgiveness in our lives and extend it to others as a reflection of your love. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

If you have been blessed by this Creative Devotional, please share it with others. Many thanks. God bless you!

ABOUT OUR MINISTRY

We are a non-denominational Bible-believing Christian Ministry trained and equipped at the Christian Leaders Institute and Axx Bible College. Even though our Ministry is based on God's Word, the Bible, you need to approach our teachings like the Bereans and always study the Bible yourself to see if what we teach is aligned with what is written in the Bible.

Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true. Acts 17:11 NIV

We are only humans who 'stumble in many ways' (James 3:2) and we only 'know in part and we prophesy in part' (1 Corinthians 13:9).
