Weekly Creative Devotional
Opening Prayer
Heavenly Father, Thank You for the gift of the Holy Spirit, our Helper and Guide. On this Pentecost Sunday, we celebrate the moment He was poured out upon Your people. Fill us afresh with Your Spirit – empower us, embolden us, and use us for Your purposes. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
READING
Acts 1:8
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.
REFLECTION
These are Jesus’ final words on earth – His empowering charge to the disciples. He promises not our own strength, but the Spirit’s power to bear witness to His risen life throughout the world.
Pentecost marks not just one historic event – it ushers in an ongoing reality: the Holy Spirit dwells in every believer, equipping us to live as courageous witnesses today.
Ask yourself:
-
Have I relied on my own resources, or have I submitted to the Holy Spirit’s power?
-
In what “Jerusalem” (home), “Samaria” (community), or “uttermost parts” (work, world) is He calling me to testify by my words or life?
MEMORIZING THE VERSE
Committing to Heart:
Write Acts 1:8 on a notecard or in your journal. Add symbols like a dove, wind, or globe. Keep it visible this week and let it remind you of the Holy Spirit’s power and your mission as Christ’s witness.
CREATING AND MEDITATING
Choose a creative activity:Option 1: “Wind & Flame” Art
Paint or collage a representation of wind and tongues of fire around Acts 1:8. Write mission fields like “home,” “neighborhood,” “work,” “school” within the design as places to carry His power.
Option 2: Spirit-Led Journal Prompts
Write: “When the Spirit came, I received power to…” Then list personal ways you feel called to reflect Jesus this week – through kindness, courage, testimony, or prayer for others.
TAKING ACTION AND APPLYING
Ask the Holy Spirit to lead you this week. Then:
-
Share your faith or an encouragement with someone.
-
Pray for guidance in a situation.
-
Stand for truth or grace when it’s difficult.
Be sensitive to how He’s working in your “Jerusalem” – your everyday world – and respond with courage and love.
Hymn
Come, O Creator Spirit Blest
1 Come, Holy Ghost, Creator blest, and make our hearts your place of rest; come with your grace and heav’nly aid, and fill the hearts which you have made.
2 To you, the Counselor, we cry, to you, the gift of God most high, the fount of life, the fire of love, the soul’s anointing from above.
3 In you, with graces sevenfold, we God’s almighty hand behold while you with tongues of fire proclaim to all the world his holy name.
4 Your light to ev’ry thought impart, and shed your love in ev’ry heart; the weakness of our mortal state with deathless might invigorate.
5 Drive far away our wily foe, and your abiding peace bestow; with you as our protecting guide, no evil can with us abide.
6 Teach us to know the Father, Son, and you, from both, as Three in One that we your name may ever bless and in our lives the truth confess.
7 Praise we the Father and the Son and Holy Spirit, with them One, and may the Son on us bestow the gifts that from the Spirit flow!
Words: Rabanus Maurus, Translator: Edward Caswall , Music: Louis Lambillotte
Closing Prayer
Heavenly Father, Thank You for sending the Holy Spirit to empower us to live as faithful witnesses of Jesus Christ. Fill us afresh with Your Spirit today. Give us boldness to speak Your truth, compassion to love as Jesus loved, and wisdom to follow Your leading in every area of our lives. May we carry the fire of Pentecost into our homes, communities, and the world. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
If you have been blessed by this Creative Devotional, please share it with others. Many thanks. God bless you!

ABOUT OUR MINISTRY
We are a non-denominational Bible-believing Christian Ministry trained and equipped at the Christian Leaders Institute and Axx Bible College. Even though our Ministry is based on God's Word, the Bible, you need to approach our teachings like the Bereans and always study the Bible yourself to see if what we teach is aligned with what is written in the Bible.
Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true. Acts 17:11 NIV
We are only humans who 'stumble in many ways' (James 3:2) and we only 'know in part and we prophesy in part' (1 Corinthians 13:9).
