Kingdom Devotional – Christ Is Our First and Last Authority

In a world filled with voices – experts, influencers, governments, even our own emotions – it’s easy to forget where true authority begins and ends. But in the Kingdom of God, there is only one ultimate voice: Christ.
He is the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end (Revelation 22:13). All things were created through Him, and all things hold together in Him (Colossians 1:16–17). That means every decision, every plan, every belief we hold must come under His Lordship.
When we let other voices define truth, we drift into confusion. But when Christ is our first and last authority, we live in alignment with Heaven. His Word becomes our standard. His Spirit becomes our guide. His example becomes our pattern.
This doesn’t mean we ignore human authority – it means we discern it through the lens of Christ’s Word. If any rule, system, or opinion contradicts Him, we choose Him. Our loyalty belongs first to His Kingdom, not to the systems of this world.
Let’s live with confidence that we serve the King of kings. Every earthly authority is temporary, but His reign is eternal. One day, every knee will bow, and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord (Philippians 2:10–11).
So today, before we speak, decide, or act – let’s ask: Does this honor Christ’s authority in my life?
Because He is not only our Savior – He is our King.
Scriptures (ESV):
-
“And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together.” — Colossians 1:17
-
“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” — Hebrews 13:8
-
“Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name.” — Philippians 2:9
End Times Series – Part 6: The Revelation of Jesus Christ
The Book of Revelation isn’t meant to confuse or frighten believers – it’s meant to reveal Jesus Christ as the victorious King who will return to establish His Kingdom forever.
The Meaning of “Revelation”
The word “Revelation” (Greek: Apokalypsis) means unveiling or disclosure. It’s not about hiding truth – it’s about revealing it. From the very first verse, we see its purpose:
“The revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show to his servants the things that must soon take place.” — Revelation 1:1 (ESV)
So this book is not just about the future – it’s about knowing Christ more deeply and recognizing His authority over history, nations, and eternity.
John’s Vision on the Island of Patmos
John, the apostle, was exiled on the island of Patmos for preaching the Word of God. Even in isolation, God gave him a powerful vision.
“I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s day…” — Revelation 1:10
He heard a voice like a trumpet and turned to see Jesus in His glorified form – clothed in majesty, eyes like fire, feet like bronze, and His voice like rushing waters (vv. 12–16).
This was not the humble tekton (builder, craftsman) from Nazareth – this was the risen, glorified Christ, King of kings and Lord of lords.
Jesus: The First and the Last
In verse 17–18, Jesus declares:
“Fear not, I am the first and the last, and the living one. I died, and behold I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of Death and Hades.”
This means that Jesus holds authority over life, death, and eternity.
He conquered the grave, and He alone determines the destiny of souls and nations.
The Purpose of Revelation
Jesus instructs John to write what he has seen – the things that are and the things that are to come (v. 19).
This gives us a divine outline of the book:
-
What you have seen – the vision of Christ (chapter 1).
-
What is now – the letters to the seven churches (chapters 2–3).
-
What will take place later – the future prophetic events (chapters 4–22).
Revelation begins not with the Antichrist or judgments – but with Jesus standing among the seven golden lampstands, which represent the churches. This reminds us that Christ is still among His people today, walking in the midst of His Church.
Kingdom Key Points
-
Revelation is the unveiling of Jesus Christ, not just future events.
-
Christ is eternal, holding authority over life and death.
-
The book reveals what was, is, and is to come – in God’s perfect order.
-
Even in exile or hardship, God can reveal His glory to His faithful servants.
-
Jesus still walks among His Church today – He has never left His people.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, open our eyes to see You as You truly are – the risen, glorified King. Help us not to fear what is coming but to fix our hearts on You, who holds the keys of death and life. Give us revelation knowledge to understand Your Word, and help us live ready for Your return. Amen.

ABOUT OUR MINISTRY
We are a non-denominational Bible-believing Christian Ministry trained and equipped at the Christian Leaders Institute and Axx Bible College. Even though our Ministry is based on God's Word, the Bible, you need to approach our teachings like the Bereans and always study the Bible yourself to see if what we teach is aligned with what is written in the Bible.
Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true. Acts 17:11 NIV
We are only humans who 'stumble in many ways' (James 3:2) and we only 'know in part and we prophesy in part' (1 Corinthians 13:9).
