This World Is Not Our Home
As Christians, we often feel a holy discontentment with the world around us. That’s because we were never made to stay here forever. Scripture reminds us in Philippians 3:20:
“But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.”
We are not earth-bound beings trying to reach heaven. We are heaven-born souls temporarily passing through Earth. When we leave this physical body, we are not losing our lives – we are finally entering into true life, eternal life, the life we were made for.
Death Has Lost Its Sting
In 1 Corinthians 15:54-55, Paul triumphantly declares:
“When the perishable puts on the imperishable, and the mortal puts on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written: ‘Death is swallowed up in victory.’ ‘O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?’”
Through Jesus’ death and resurrection, death no longer holds terror for the believer. It is not the end. It is a transition – a doorway into the presence of our Savior. Jesus Himself said in John 14:2-3:
“In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.”
When a Christian dies, they don’t descend into darkness. They step into the light of God’s glory. They go home.
To Be With Christ Is Better by Far
Paul had an eternal perspective that we, too, must adopt. He said in Philippians 1:21-23:
“For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. If I am to live in the flesh, that means fruitful labor for me. Yet which I shall choose I cannot tell. I am hard pressed between the two. My desire is to depart and be with Christ, for that is far better.”
Can you imagine that? Dying is gain for the believer – not loss. Why? Because we finally get to be with Christ face to face. All the suffering, pain, and tears of this world will fade in the presence of His radiant love. The One we worship by faith we will see with our eyes.
Comfort for Those Who Mourn
This truth doesn’t erase grief, but it transforms it. 1 Thessalonians 4:13 tells us:
“But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope.”
Yes, we grieve. But not without hope. Because for the Christian, death is not a goodbye – it’s a see you soon. Our separation is temporary. And one day, we will be reunited in the presence of the Lord forever.
Living with Heaven in Mind
If death is just going home, then how should we live here?
We live with urgency, with joy, and with purpose. We share the Good News so that others may also be ready to go home when their time comes. We hold loosely to the things of this world, knowing something far greater awaits us.
C.S. Lewis once said:
“If you read history you will find that the Christians who did most for the present world were just those who thought most of the next.”
Let’s live in such a way that when our time comes, we are not afraid. We simply smile and say, “I’m going home.”
Final Thoughts
If you are in Christ, death is not the end of your story – it’s the beginning of the best chapter. Heaven is real. Jesus is preparing a place for you. And when your journey on this earth is finished, He will welcome you into the fullness of joy in His presence.
You don’t die. You go home.
“Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.” – Psalm 116:15
Until then, keep your eyes on Jesus, live for eternity, and take comfort in the glorious truth that one day, you will be home.

ABOUT OUR MINISTRY
We are a non-denominational Bible-believing Christian Ministry trained and equipped at the Christian Leaders Institute and Axx Bible College. Even though our Ministry is based on God's Word, the Bible, you need to approach our teachings like the Bereans and always study the Bible yourself to see if what we teach is aligned with what is written in the Bible.
Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true. Acts 17:11 NIV
We are only humans who 'stumble in many ways' (James 3:2) and we only 'know in part and we prophesy in part' (1 Corinthians 13:9).
