Opening Prayer

Heavenly Father, Thank You for calling us to seek You earnestly. In a world that grows darker, help us to press into Your presence, walk humbly with You, and live righteously. Give us hearts that long for Your will above all else, and prepare us to stand firm in the day of trouble. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

   

REFLECTION

The world is noisy with pride, rebellion, and self-reliance – but God’s invitation remains clear: “Seek the Lord.”

Zephaniah delivers this message at a time of judgment and looming consequences, yet even then, God’s heart calls to the humble. The path forward isn’t found in control or power, but in righteousness, humility, and a return to God’s ways.

This verse is a reminder that our security isn’t in our circumstances, but in God Himself. As we seek Him daily – quietly, humbly, earnestly – we are choosing to live under the shelter of His grace. When chaos shakes the world, the humble who seek the Lord will not be forgotten.

   

MEMORIZING THE VERSE

Committing to Heart:
“Seek righteousness; seek humility.” – Zephaniah 2:3 (ESV) Write this phrase on a note card. Decorate it with soft, earthy colors and symbols of peace – like a dove, an olive branch, or open hands. Let it be a reminder that seeking God begins with a humble heart.

 

CREATING AND MEDITATING

Choose a creative activity:

Option 1: “Seek the Lord” Quiet Time Card
Design a card or journal page with the words “Seek the Lord” in the center. Around it, write or draw things that help you seek God – Scripture, prayer, worship, stillness, obedience, etc. Use this page as a visual guide during your quiet time this week.

Option 2: “Hidden in Him” Art Prompt
Draw or paint an image of refuge – like a rock, a cave, or a set of wings. Add Zephaniah 2:3 near or on the image. Around it, write what it means to you to be “hidden” in God. Use this time to reflect on how humility and righteousness draw you nearer to His protection.

TAKING ACTION AND APPLYING

This week, take 5 minutes each day to humbly seek God – before checking your phone, news, or tasks.
Ask Him to make your heart meek, your path righteous, and your life aligned with His will.
Also, reach out to someone who’s feeling shaken by life. Share this verse and remind them that God sees the humble and offers His covering love.

Seek the Lord

1 Seek the Lord who now is present, pray to One who is at hand. Let the wicked cease from sinning, evildoers change their mind. On the sinful God has pity; those returning God forgives. This is what the Lord is saying to a world that disbelieves.

2 “Judge Me not by human standards! As the vault of heaven soars High above the earth, so higher are my thoughts and ways than yours. See how rain and snow from heaven make earth blossom and bear fruit, Giving you, before returning, seed for sowing, bread to eat:

3 “So My Word returns not fruitless; does not from its labors cease Till it has achieved My purpose in a world of joy and peace.” God is love! How close the prophet to that vital gospel word! In Isaiah’s inspiration it is Jesus we have heard!

Heavenly Father,
Thank You for Your call to seek You in righteousness and humility. Help us not to rely on our own strength, but to walk humbly in Your truth. Hide us in the shelter of Your love when the storms come, and teach us to live lives that honor You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
