Weekly Creative Devotional
Opening Prayer
Gracious Father,
Thank You for choosing to place Your priceless treasure within us – fragile, imperfect vessels. Help us not to be discouraged by our weaknesses but to see them as places where Your power can shine through. May we carry Your light with humility, knowing that the glory is Yours alone. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
READING
2 Corinthians 4:7
But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us.
REFLECTION
We live in a world that celebrates strength, success, and perfection. Yet God reminds us that He often chooses the weak and ordinary to carry out His extraordinary plans.
Paul calls us “jars of clay” – fragile, breakable, and humble. But inside, we carry the treasure of Christ. This means our imperfections are not something to hide or be ashamed of. Instead, they are an opportunity for God’s power to be made visible through us.
When people see light pouring from a cracked jar, they know it’s not about the jar – it’s about what’s inside. Let this verse remind you that it’s okay to feel weak, broken, or unqualified. God’s power is made perfect in those very places.
MEMORIZING THE VERSE
Committing to Heart:
“But we have this treasure in jars of clay…” – 2 Corinthians 4:7 (ESV)
Write this on a card and surround it with gold stars, beams of light, or simple broken pottery designs to represent how God’s glory shines through our weaknesses.
CREATING AND MEDITATING
Choose a creative activity:Option 1: “Treasure Jar” Illustration Prompt
Draw or paint a jar of clay (or use a printable outline). Inside the jar, write or draw things God has placed in you – His love, grace, calling, spiritual gifts, or promises. Around the jar, write phrases like “God’s power,” “Christ in me,” and “Light in darkness.” As you create, thank God for choosing to place His treasure in you.
Option 2: “Cracks of Glory” Journal Page
Write the verse across a blank page, then decorate it with lines that resemble cracks in pottery. In each crack, write down a personal weakness, trial, or fear. Around those, write how God’s strength has been revealed in those areas. This is a powerful reminder that our brokenness makes room for God’s glory.
TAKING ACTION AND APPLYING
This week, whenever you feel discouraged by your limitations or struggles, remind yourself: I am a jar of clay, but I carry God’s treasure. Pray each day for God’s strength to be made perfect in your weakness.
Also, encourage a friend who is feeling broken or weak – send them 2 Corinthians 4:7 and remind them of the treasure they carry inside.
Hymn
Only an Earthen Vessel
1 I am only an earthen vessel That Jesus may use as He will, Whether much I may do in His vineyard, Or small be the place that I fill.
Refrain: I am only an earthen vessel, But Jesus has pleasure in me; While I gladly submit to His purpose, A vessel to honor I’ll be.
2 I am only an earthen vessel, But cleansed by the Master’s dear hand; He hath placed me just where He would have me, And ready for service I stand. [Refrain]
3 I am only an earthen vessel, All excellence is of the Lord; For alone I am worthless and empty, And nothing of profit afford. [Refrain]
4 I am only an earthen vessel, The graces within are not mine, For the love and the power and glory Belong to the Savior divine. [Refrain]

Closing Prayer
Heavenly Father,
We thank You for placing Your treasure in jars of clay like us. Let us never forget that our weakness is not a hindrance but a canvas for Your power. Help us to live boldly, not because we are strong, but because You are. May our lives shine with Your light and lead others to Your glory. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

ABOUT OUR MINISTRY
We are a non-denominational Bible-believing Christian Ministry trained and equipped at the Christian Leaders Institute and Axx Bible College. Even though our Ministry is based on God's Word, the Bible, you need to approach our teachings like the Bereans and always study the Bible yourself to see if what we teach is aligned with what is written in the Bible.
Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true. Acts 17:11 NIV
We are only humans who 'stumble in many ways' (James 3:2) and we only 'know in part and we prophesy in part' (1 Corinthians 13:9).
