Weekly Creative Devotional

Opening Prayer

Gracious God, as we enter into this sacred time of reflection on the events of Palm Sunday, open our hearts to receive Your Word. May the story of Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem deepen our understanding of Your love and grace. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

REFLECTION

Reflect on the significance of Palm Sunday as depicted in John 12:13. Consider the excitement and adoration of the crowd as they welcomed Jesus into Jerusalem. What does this moment teach us about Jesus’ identity and the expectations of the people?  

MEMORIZING THE VERSE

Commit John 12:13 to memory. Meditate on the significance of this moment, when the crowd hailed Jesus as their King, welcoming Him with shouts of praise and adoration, recognizing His divine authority and purpose.

 

CREATING AND MEDITATING

Choose a creative activity: Option 1: Create a palm branch art piece using paper or other materials to symbolize Jesus’ triumphal entry. As you craft this representation, meditate on the meaning of Jesus as the King of Israel and Savior of the world. Option 2: Spend some time in quiet meditation, imagining yourself among the crowd welcoming Jesus into Jerusalem. Visualize the scene, hear the shouts of “Hosanna,” and reflect on what it means to welcome Jesus into your own life with joy and adoration.  

TAKING ACTION AND APPLYING

Consider how you can actively welcome Jesus into your life each day, not just on Palm Sunday. Reflect on ways you can honor Him as your King and Savior, seeking to live in alignment with His teachings and example.

1 Hosanna, loud hosanna the little children sang; through pillared court and temple the lovely anthem rang. To Jesus, who had blessed them, close folded to his breast, the children sang their praises, the simplest and the best.

2 From Olivet they followed mid an exultant crowd, the victory palm branch waving, and chanting clear and loud. The Lord of earth and heaven rode on in lowly state, nor scorned that little children should on his bidding wait.

3 “Hosanna in the highest!” That ancient song we sing, for Christ is our Redeemer, the Lord of heaven, our King. O may we ever praise him with heart and life and voice, and in his blissful presence eternally rejoice.

Closing Prayer

Loving God, as we commemorate Palm Sunday and the triumphant entry of Jesus into Jerusalem, we thank You for the gift of salvation through Your Son. Help us to live lives of praise and adoration, welcoming Jesus into our hearts each day. In His holy name, we pray. Amen.
