Weekly Creative Devotional
Opening Prayer
Heavenly Father, as we stand at the threshold of a new year, we come before you with hearts of gratitude for the journey behind and hearts of hope for the path ahead. Guide us, O Lord, as we embark on this new chapter, and may your presence be our constant companion. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
READING
John 3:16
Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.
REFLECTION
As we step into the new year, let us meditate on the words of Isaiah 43:19. God is the Author of new beginnings, and in His hands, even the most arid deserts of our lives can become rivers of renewal. Take a moment to reflect on the new things God is doing and will continue to do in the days ahead.MEMORIZING THE VERSE
Commit Isaiah 43:19 to memory as a reminder that, in every season, God is at work, bringing forth new possibilities and paths.CREATING AND MEDITATING
Choose a creative activity:- Word of the Year Scripture Art:
- Choose a Word: Pray and meditate on a word that you feel God impressing upon your heart for the upcoming year. It could be a virtue (e.g., courage, faith), a fruit of the Spirit (e.g., love, joy), or a theme that resonates with your spiritual journey.
- Select a Scripture: Look for a Bible verse that aligns with the chosen word. This verse will be your guiding light for the year.
- Create Scripture Art: Write out the chosen word and scripture in an artistic and visually appealing way. You can use calligraphy, draw illustrations, or even create a digital graphic. Consider incorporating colors and symbols that convey the essence of your chosen word.
- Display Your Art: Place your Scripture Art in a prominent location where you will see it daily—perhaps on your desk, by your bedside, or as the wallpaper on your phone. Let it be a constant reminder of the spiritual focus you have set for the year.
- Reflective Journaling: Begin a journal for the new year. Write down your reflections on the past year, express gratitude for lessons learned, and set intentions for the upcoming months.
TAKING ACTION AND APPLYING
Consider practical steps for embracing new beginnings:- Prayerful Planning: Spend time in prayer, seeking God’s guidance as you plan for the year ahead. Invite Him into your goals, dreams, and decisions.
- Acts of Kindness: Kick off the new year with intentional acts of kindness. Whether it’s reaching out to a friend, supporting a neighbor, or volunteering in your community, let love and kindness be your guide.
Hymn
This Is a Day of New Beginnings
1.
This is a day of new beginnings, time to remember, and move on, time to believe what love is bringing, laying to rest the pain that’s gone.
2.
For by the life and death of Jesus, love’s mighty Spirit, now as then, can make for us a world of difference as faith and hope are born again.
3.
Then let us, with the Spirit’s daring, step from the past, and leave behind our disappointment, guilt and grieving, seeking new paths, and sure to find.
4.
Christ is alive, and goes before us to show and share what love can do. This is a day of new beginnings; our God is making all things new.
Words: Brian Wren, Music: Carlton R. Young
Closing Prayer
Gracious God, as we step into this new year, we place our trust in you. May your Spirit guide our steps, and may we be open to the new things you are doing in our lives. Thank you for the promise of fresh beginnings. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
May the coming year be filled with God’s grace, purpose, and abundant blessings.

ABOUT OUR MINISTRY
We are a non-denominational Bible-believing Christian Ministry trained and equipped at the Christian Leaders Institute and Axx Bible College. Even though our Ministry is based on God's Word, the Bible, you need to approach our teachings like the Bereans and always study the Bible yourself to see if what we teach is aligned with what is written in the Bible.
Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true. Acts 17:11 NIV
We are only humans who 'stumble in many ways' (James 3:2) and we only 'know in part and we prophesy in part' (1 Corinthians 13:9).
