Opening Prayer

Heavenly Father, as we light the third Advent candle, we are reminded of the joy Your salvation brings. Fill our hearts with gratitude and peace as we prepare to celebrate Christ’s birth. Help us to reflect Your joy and goodness to the world around us. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

READING

Isaiah 12:3

With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation.

REFLECTION

The Third Advent Sunday focuses on joy—Gaudete Sunday. Isaiah paints a beautiful image of joyfully drawing water from the wells of salvation. This verse reminds us that Christ is the source of our joy and the Living Water that refreshes and sustains our souls. As we light the pink candle of joy, we remember that true joy flows from our relationship with God and His promise of salvation. How can you draw deeply from this well of joy, even when life feels dry or challenging? Consider:
  • What does “drawing water from the wells of salvation” mean to you in your daily life?
  • How can you share this joy with others during the Advent season?

MEMORIZING THE VERSE

Memorize Isaiah 12:3 (ESV): “With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation.” Let it remind you of the abundant life Christ offers and inspire you to approach Him with thanksgiving and joy.

CREATING AND MEDITATING

Choose a creative activity: Option 1: Living Water Jar. Decorate a jar to represent the “wells of salvation.” Each day, write down a way God has brought you joy and place it in the jar. At the end of the week, review these notes as a celebration of God’s goodness in your life. Option 2: Water-Themed Bible Journaling. Create a journal or Bible art page inspired by Isaiah 12:3. Use watercolors or blue hues to depict the imagery of living water and salvation. As you create, reflect on how Christ quenches your spiritual thirst and brings joy.

TAKING ACTION AND APPLYING

This week, be a vessel of joy to others. Offer encouragement to someone who may feel weary or dry in spirit. Share a story of God’s faithfulness in your life to inspire and uplift them.

Hymn

Jesus, Thou Joy of Loving Hearts!

1 Jesus, Thou joy of loving hearts, Thou fount of life, Thou light of men, from the best bliss that earth imparts, we turn unfilled to Thee again.

2 Thy truth unchanged hath ever stood; Thou savest those that on Thee call; to them that seek Thee, Thou art good, to them that find Thee all in all.

3 We taste Thee, O Thou living Bread, and long to feast upon Thee still; we drink of Thee, the Fountain-head, and thirst our souls from Thee to fill.

4 Our restless spirits yearn for Thee, where’er our changeful lot is cast; glad when Thy gracious smile we see, blest when our faith can hold Thee fast.

5 O Jesus, ever with us stay, make all our moments calm and bright; chase the dark night of sin away; shed o’er the world Thy holy light.

Closing Prayer

Heavenly Father, we thank You for sending Your Son, Jesus Christ, the wellspring of salvation and the source of everlasting joy. Jesus, our Savior, we praise You for bringing light into our lives and quenching the thirst of our souls. Holy Spirit, guide us as we draw nearer to You, filling us with joy and empowering us to share Your love with others. Father, may we live each day in the joy of Your salvation, and Jesus, we eagerly await the day when You return to make all things new. Amen.

ABOUT OUR MINISTRY

We are a non-denominational Bible-believing Christian Ministry trained and equipped at the Christian Leaders Institute. Even though our Ministry is based on God's Word, the Bible, you need to approach our teachings like the Bereans and always study the Bible yourself to see if what we teach is aligned with what is written in the Bible.

Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true. Acts 17:11 NIV

We are only humans who 'stumble in many ways' (James 3:2) and we only 'know in part and we prophesy in part' (1 Corinthians 13:9).
