Weekly Creative Devotional

Opening Prayer

Gracious God, as we gather before You, open our hearts to receive Your Word. Teach us the transformative power of gratitude and guide us in living lives that reflect Your love. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

READING

Colossians 3:15

And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful.

REFLECTION

Reflect on the connection between gratitude and the peace of Christ. Consider how cultivating a thankful heart can bring harmony and unity, not only in our relationship with God but also in our interactions with others.

MEMORIZING THE VERSE

Commit Colossians 3:15 to memory:

And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful.

CREATING AND MEDITATING

Choose a creative activity:
  1. Option 1: Create a gratitude journal. Write down three things you are thankful for each day this week.
  2. Option 2: Meditate on the concept of Christ’s peace ruling in your heart. Visualize what that looks like in your daily life.

TAKING ACTION AND APPLYING

Challenge yourself to express gratitude to someone each day this week. It could be a simple note, a kind word, or a gesture that shows appreciation.

Hymn

The Peace of God, O Blessed Peace

1.

The peace of God—O blessèd peace, That fills the heart and calms our fears, That bids our soul’s wild tumult cease, And gives us sunlight thro’ our tears.

Refrain We’ll rest in this wonderful peace, So blest and so filled with God’s love, Till our souls find happy release, And we reach the mansions above.

2.

The peace of God—O peace divine, That bids our restless souls be still, Till thro’ the clouds the sun doth shine, And we behold His perfect will. [Refrain]

3.

3. The peace of God—O restful peace, Thro’ all life’s changing scenes below; In this we’ll rest till life shall cease, And Heav’n’s eternal peace we know. [Refrain]

4.

Author of peace, to Thee we raise Our prayer for strength, to e’er endure The ills we meet, till all our days Find rest in Thee, Thy peace secure. [Refrain]

Words: J. E. Jewett, Music: Charles Brenton Widmeyer

Closing Prayer

Heavenly Father, we thank You for the gift of Your peace and the call to gratitude. Help us to live with thankful hearts, recognizing Your goodness in every aspect of our lives. May our gratitude bring glory to Your name. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

ABOUT OUR MINISTRY

We are a non-denominational Bible-believing Christian Ministry trained and equipped at the Christian Leaders Institute. Even though our Ministry is based on God's Word, the Bible, you need to approach our teachings like the Bereans and always study the Bible yourself to see if what we teach is aligned with what is written in the Bible.

Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true. Acts 17:11 NIV

We are only humans who 'stumble in many ways' (James 3:2) and we only 'know in part and we prophesy in part' (1 Corinthians 13:9).
