Weekly Creative Devotional
Opening Prayer
Holy Spirit, on this Pentecost Sunday, we come expectant. As the flames descended upon the disciples, ignite a fire within us. Fill us with Your power, wisdom, and courage to be Your witnesses in the world. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
READING
Acts 2:1-4
When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. And suddenly a sound came from heaven like the rushing of a mighty wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. And divided tongues as of fire appeared to them, and rested on each one of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance.
REFLECTION
Imagine the scene: the disciples, huddled together, unsure after Jesus’ ascension. Then, a mighty wind and tongues of fire – a powerful symbol of the Holy Spirit’s arrival. This wasn’t just a dramatic display; it was an empowerment. The disciples, once fearful, were filled with the courage to speak the Good News in foreign languages. Consider:- How do you feel about receiving the Holy Spirit?
- What areas of your life might need a spark of the Spirit’s fire – courage, wisdom, love?
MEMORIZING THE VERSE
Let the power of Acts 2:4 (ESV) be your Pentecost reminder this week: “And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance.” Reflect on how the Holy Spirit can empower you to share your faith and live out your purpose.
CREATING AND MEDITATING
Choose a creative activity: Option 1: Create a “fire starter” collage. Use images and words that represent the things that ignite your passion and purpose. Reflect on how the Holy Spirit can empower you to pursue them. Option 2: Light a candle and spend some time in quiet prayer. Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal your unique gifts and guide you in using them for God’s glory.TAKING ACTION AND APPLYING
The Holy Spirit doesn’t call us to be passive observers. This Pentecost, take a step towards living out your purpose. Share your faith with someone new, volunteer in your community, or use your gifts to bless others. Let the fire within you shine brightly!
Hymn
Holy Spirit
1 Holy Spirit, while we gather At this consecrated hour, We would ask Thy presence with us, We would feel Thy quick’ning pow’r.
Refrain: Holy Spirit, while we gather, From our toil and labor free, Rest upon us, dwell within us, Close our hearts to all but Thee.
2 Blessed Spirit, through Thy teaching, While we read our Saviour’s word And with Him we hold communion, May His loving voice be heard. [Refrain]
3 O ‘tis pray’r that brings the blessing When all other joys have flown, Pray’r that makes our burdens lighter, Draws us near our Father’s throne. [Refrain]

ABOUT OUR MINISTRY
We are a non-denominational Bible-believing Christian Ministry trained and equipped at the Christian Leaders Institute. Even though our Ministry is based on God's Word, the Bible, you need to approach our teachings like the Bereans and always study the Bible yourself to see if what we teach is aligned with what is written in the Bible.
Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true. Acts 17:11 NIV
We are only humans who 'stumble in many ways' (James 3:2) and we only 'know in part and we prophesy in part' (1 Corinthians 13:9).
