Weekly Creative Devotional

Opening Prayer

Dear Lord, as we explore 2 John this week, help us to embrace the truth of Your Word and to walk in love towards others. Guide us in living out the balance of truth and love in our daily lives. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

READING

2 John 1:6

And this is love, that we walk according to His commandments; this is the commandment, just as you have heard from the beginning, so that you should walk in it.

REFLECTION

In 2 John, we are reminded that love and obedience go hand in hand. To truly love God is to live according to His commandments. This means not just hearing the Word but walking in it—making it the foundation of our daily actions and decisions. The balance of truth and love in our lives is a testimony to our faith and a reflection of Christ’s love for us. Consider:
  • How can you better align your daily actions with God’s commandments?
  • In what areas of your life is God calling you to grow in love while upholding His truth?

MEMORIZING THE VERSE

Let 2 John 1:6 (ESV) guide your reflection this week: “And this is love, that we walk according to His commandments; this is the commandment, just as you have heard from the beginning, so that you should walk in it.” Keep this verse in mind as you strive to live out both truth and love.

CREATING AND MEDITATING

Choose a creative activity: Option 1: Make a “Truth and Love Journal.” Dedicate a journal to exploring how you can apply God’s commandments in your life and reflect on ways you can show love to others. Document instances where you see God’s truth and love at work in your life and the lives of those around you. Option 2: Design a “Walk in Truth and Love” artwork. Use colors, symbols, or imagery that represent truth and love to you. As you create, meditate on how these principles can be expressed in your daily life and ask God to help you walk faithfully in both areas.

TAKING ACTION AND APPLYING

This week, focus on integrating truth and love into your actions. Look for opportunities to show love in practical ways while remaining true to God’s commands. Whether it’s through acts of kindness, honest conversations, or standing firm in your values, let both truth and love guide your choices.

Hymn

Blessed Are Thy Who Do His Commandments

1 Blessed are they who do His commandments, They shall claim the tree of life; Into the city they shall enter, They are victors in the strife.

Refrain: Blessed, blessed, Blessed are they, Into the city they shall enter, Blessed, blessed, blessed are they.

2 Blessed are they who do His commandments, They shall wear the robes of white; Under the portals God shall lead them, They shall serve Him day and night. [Refrain]

3 Blessed are they who do His commandments, They shall stand before the throne; Into the life of joy eternal, God shall claim them for His own. [Refrain]

Words: Henry Robert Tricket, Music: James Henry Fillmore

Closing Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for the call to walk in truth and love. Help us to live out Your commandments with sincerity and compassion. May our lives reflect Your love and truth, drawing others closer to You. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

ABOUT OUR MINISTRY

We are a non-denominational Bible-believing Christian Ministry trained and equipped at the Christian Leaders Institute and Axx Bible College. Even though our Ministry is based on God's Word, the Bible, you need to approach our teachings like the Bereans and always study the Bible yourself to see if what we teach is aligned with what is written in the Bible.

Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true. Acts 17:11 NIV

We are only humans who 'stumble in many ways' (James 3:2) and we only 'know in part and we prophesy in part' (1 Corinthians 13:9).
