Weekly Creative Devotional
Opening Prayer
Almighty God, as we explore the Book of Nahum this week, guide us through its messages of judgment and restoration. Grant us the wisdom to discern Your will and the strength to find hope even amidst hardship. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
READING
Nahum 1:7-8
The Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; he knows those who take refuge in him. With a sweeping flood he will make a complete end of his enemies, and will pursue his foes into the darkness.
REFLECTION
The Book of Nahum prophesies the destruction of Nineveh, a powerful and oppressive city. The imagery is stark, depicting a world turned upside down. Yet, within this message of judgment lies a glimmer of hope. Even in the face of devastation, God remains a steadfast refuge for those who trust in Him. Nahum 1:8 paints a vivid picture of God’s power to sweep away evil and bring darkness to those who oppose Him. Consider:- Have you ever felt like your world was crumbling around you?
- Where do you find strength and hope in difficult times?
- How can the image of God’s power in Nahum 1:7-8 bring comfort or inspire you?
MEMORIZING THE VERSE
Let Nahum 1:7 (ESV) be your anchor this week: “The Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; he knows those who take refuge in him.” Remember, God’s goodness and strength are unwavering, even when life seems chaotic.
CREATING AND MEDITATING
Choose a creative activity: Option 1: Create a “before and after” collage. On one side, depict a scene of destruction or hardship. On the other side, create an image that represents hope and restoration. Option 2: Reflect on a time when you experienced God’s faithfulness during a difficult season. Write a short prayer of gratitude or create a piece of art that expresses your experience.TAKING ACTION AND APPLYING
God’s strength allows us to be beacons of hope for others. This week, reach out to someone facing a challenge. Offer a listening ear, a helping hand, or simply a word of encouragement.
Hymn
God a Very Present Help
1 God is our refuge and our strength, our ever present aid, and, therefore, though the earth gives way, we will not be afraid; though hills amidst the sea be cast, ‘though foaming waters roar, yea, though the mighty billows shake the mountains on the shore.
2 A river flows whose streams make glad the city of our God, the holy place wherein the Lord Most High has his abode; Since God is in the midst of her, unmoved her walls shall stand, for God will be her early help, when trouble is at hand.
3 The nations raged, the kingdoms moved, but when his voice was heard, the troubled earth was stilled to peace before his mighty word. The Lord of hosts is on our side, our safety to secure; the God of Jacob is for us a refuge strong and sure.
4 O come, behold what wondrous works the Lord’s great might has wrought; come, see what desolation great he on the earth has brought. To utmost ends of all the earth he causes war to cease; the weapons of the strong destroyed, he makes abiding peace.
5 Be still and know that I am God, o’er all exalted high; the subject nations of the earth my name shall magnify. The Lord of hosts is on our side, our safety to secure; the God of Jacob is for us a refuge strong and sure.

Closing Prayer
Dear Lord, in times of trouble, we often lose sight of Your presence. Thank You for being our unfailing refuge. Grant us the courage to face challenges with faith, and the strength to share Your hope with others. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

ABOUT OUR MINISTRY
We are a non-denominational Bible-believing Christian Ministry trained and equipped at the Christian Leaders Institute. Even though our Ministry is based on God's Word, the Bible, you need to approach our teachings like the Bereans and always study the Bible yourself to see if what we teach is aligned with what is written in the Bible.
Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true. Acts 17:11 NIV
We are only humans who 'stumble in many ways' (James 3:2) and we only 'know in part and we prophesy in part' (1 Corinthians 13:9).
