Weekly Creative Devotional

Opening Prayer

Heavenly Father, we come before you with hearts full of gratitude for the promises you have given us in your Word. As we explore the book of Genesis and the earliest promises made to humanity, may we find hope and unwavering faith in your covenant. Speak to us during this time of devotion. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

READING

Genesis 12:2-3

And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.

REFLECTION

Reflect on the promises found in Genesis 12:2-3 as God speaks to Abraham. Consider the significance of these early promises to Abraham and how they foreshadow God’s plan for all of humanity’s redemption through Christ.

MEMORIZING THE VERSE

Write down Genesis 12:2-3 and commit it to memory. Let these verses remind you of God’s faithfulness and the blessings that come from trusting in His promises.

CREATING AND MEDITATING

In this part of the devotional, you have the option to choose between two creative activities:
  1. Promise Journal: Create a journal where you record God’s promises from the book of Genesis and how they have shaped the course of history and your personal faith journey.
  2. Artistic Expression: Create a piece of art that visually represents God’s promise to Abraham. Use colors, symbols, or imagery to capture the essence of these early promises.

TAKING ACTION AND APPLYING

Consider practical ways to apply the message of God’s promises:
  1. Sharing God’s Promises: Share the promises of God, especially those in Genesis, with others who may need encouragement or hope.
  2. Blessing Others: Find opportunities to be a blessing to those around you, following the example of God’s promise to Abraham.
  3. Trusting in God’s Covenant: Reflect on the covenant God made with humanity through Jesus Christ. Renew your trust in that covenant and share the gospel with others.
  4. Faithful Living: Live in a way that reflects your trust in God’s promises and demonstrates His blessings to the world.

Hymn

Standing on the Promises of Christ My King

1.

Standing on the promises of Christ my King, Through eternal ages let His praises ring, Glory in the highest, I will shout and sing, Standing on the promises of God.

Refrain:

Standing, standing, Standing on the promises of God my Savior; Standing, standing, I’m standing on the promises of God.

2.

Standing on the promises that cannot fail, When the howling storms of doubt and fear assail, By the living Word of God I shall prevail, Standing on the promises of God.

Refrain

3.

Standing on the promises I now can see Perfect, present cleansing in the blood for me; Standing in the liberty where Christ makes free, Standing on the promises of God.

Refrain

4.

Standing on the promises of Christ the Lord, Bound to Him eternally by love’s strong cord, Overcoming daily with the Spirit’s sword, Standing on the promises of God.

Refrain

5.

Standing on the promises I shall not fall, List’ning every moment to the Spirit’s call. Resting in my Savior as my All in all, Standing on the promises of God.

Closing Prayer

Heavenly Father, we thank you for the promises found in the book of Genesis, the beginning of your covenant with humanity. As we conclude this time of reflection and creativity, may we carry with us the assurance of your blessings and the responsibility to be a blessing to others. Strengthen our faith in your promises, and may we see your covenant fulfilled in our lives. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

If you have been blessed by this Creative Devotional, please share it with others. Many thanks. God bless you!

ABOUT OUR MINISTRY

We are a non-denominational Bible-believing Christian Ministry trained and equipped at the Christian Leaders Institute. Even though our Ministry is based on God's Word, the Bible, you need to approach our teachings like the Bereans and always study the Bible yourself to see if what we teach is aligned with what is written in the Bible.

Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true. Acts 17:11 NIV

We are only humans who 'stumble in many ways' (James 3:2) and we only 'know in part and we prophesy in part' (1 Corinthians 13:9).
