Weekly Creative Devotional
Opening Prayer
Lord Jesus, as we reflect on Your call to follow You, open our hearts to understand what true discipleship means. Teach us to walk closely with You, leaving behind anything that hinders our journey. In Your name, we pray. Amen.
READING
Mark 1:17-18
And Jesus said to them, ‘Follow me, and I will make you become fishers of men.’ And immediately they left their nets and followed him.
REFLECTION
In Mark’s Gospel, we see the immediacy and purpose of Jesus’ call. When He calls Peter and Andrew to follow Him, they leave everything without hesitation. Discipleship requires this same response today – a willingness to prioritize Jesus over everything else, trusting that He will shape us for a higher purpose. Following Jesus may mean letting go of comfort, security, or even certain relationships, but it leads to a life of meaning and impact. Jesus invites us into His work of transforming lives, asking us to cast our “nets” in ways that draw others to Him. Like Peter and Andrew, we may feel unqualified, but Jesus promises to make us into what He has called us to be. Consider:- What “nets” or attachments in your life might Jesus be calling you to leave behind?
- How can you respond to Jesus’ call to follow Him in a deeper way this week?
MEMORIZING THE VERSE
Memorize Mark 1:17 (ESV): “Follow me, and I will make you become fishers of men.” Let this verse remind you of Jesus’ call and His promise to equip you as you follow Him.
CREATING AND MEDITATING
Choose a creative activity: Option 1: Draw Your “Net.” In your journal, draw a simple fishing net, and in each part of the net, write down something that holds your attention, time, or energy. Pray over each item, asking God to show you if and how these areas may need to be released to follow Jesus more fully. Meditate on how God might transform each area for His purposes as you journey with Him. Option 2: Discipleship Path Map in Bible Journaling. Draw a path in the margin of your Bible beside Mark 1:17-18, symbolizing the journey of discipleship. Add steps, symbols, or words along the path that represent the challenges, steps of faith, or acts of obedience you encounter in following Jesus. Reflect on how this journey grows you into a “fisher of men.”TAKING ACTION AND APPLYING
This week, step out in faith by doing something that aligns with Jesus’ mission. It might mean reaching out to someone who needs encouragement, serving in a new way, or sharing your faith story with a friend. Ask God to make you bold in responding to His call and to deepen your commitment to discipleship.
Hymn
Fishers of Men
1 I will make you fishers of men, Fishers of men, fishers of men, I will make you fishers of men If you follow Me; If you follow Me, If you follow Me, I will make you fishers of men If you follow Me.
2 Hear Christ calling, Come unto Me, Come unto Me, Come unto Me; Hear Christ calling, Come unto Me, I will give you rest; I will give you rest, I will give you rest; Hear Christ calling, Come unto Me, I will give you rest.

Closing Prayer
Lord Jesus, thank You for calling us to follow You. Help us to leave behind anything that keeps us from fully walking with You. Give us courage to trust You as You shape us to become fishers of men, spreading Your love and truth to those around us. In Your name, we pray. Amen.

ABOUT OUR MINISTRY
We are a non-denominational Bible-believing Christian Ministry trained and equipped at the Christian Leaders Institute. Even though our Ministry is based on God's Word, the Bible, you need to approach our teachings like the Bereans and always study the Bible yourself to see if what we teach is aligned with what is written in the Bible.
Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true. Acts 17:11 NIV
We are only humans who 'stumble in many ways' (James 3:2) and we only 'know in part and we prophesy in part' (1 Corinthians 13:9).
