Weekly Creative Devotional

Opening Prayer

Gracious Creator, as we embark on this devotional journey, open our hearts to the timeless wisdom of Your Word. May Your presence dwell among us, bringing understanding and inspiration. In Your holy name, we pray. Amen.

READING

Exodus 25:8

And let them make me a sanctuary, that I may dwell in their midst.

REFLECTION

Reflect on the historical context of God instructing the Israelites to create a sanctuary. Consider the symbolism and significance of God desiring a dwelling place among His people. Now, ponder the profound truth that, through Christ, God now indwells us as temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 3:16).

MEMORIZING THE VERSE

Memorize both Exodus 25:8 and 1 Corinthians 3:16:

Exodus 25:8: And let them make me a sanctuary, that I may dwell in their midst.

1 Corinthians 3:16: Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you?

CREATING AND MEDITATING

Choose a creative activity:
  1. Option 1: Reflect on the idea that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit. Journal about ways you can honor God with your body.
  2. Option 2: Create a visual representation that combines elements of the ancient sanctuary with symbols of the Holy Spirit indwelling believers.

TAKING ACTION AND APPLYING

Consider areas of your life that need to align more closely with the understanding that you are a dwelling place for God. What changes or actions can you take to honor God in your thoughts, words, and actions?

Hymn

Our Bodies the Temples of the Holy Ghost

1.

And will the offended God again Return and dwell with sinful men? Will he within this bosom raise A living temple to his praise?

2.

The joyful news transports my breast, All hail! I cry, thou heav’nly guest! Lift up your heads, ye powers within, And let the king of glory in.

3.

Enter with all thy heav’nly train, Here live, and here forever reign: Thy sceptre o’er my passions sway, Let love command, and I’ll obey.

4.

Reason and conscience shall submit, And pay their homage at thy feet: To thee I’ll consecrate my heart, And bid each rival thence depart.

Closing Prayer

Heavenly Father, as we reflect on the concept of being a sanctuary for You, help us grasp the profound truth that Your Spirit dwells within us. Guide us in living our lives as temples, honoring You in all we do. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

ABOUT OUR MINISTRY

We are a non-denominational Bible-believing Christian Ministry trained and equipped at the Christian Leaders Institute. Even though our Ministry is based on God's Word, the Bible, you need to approach our teachings like the Bereans and always study the Bible yourself to see if what we teach is aligned with what is written in the Bible.

Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true. Acts 17:11 NIV

We are only humans who 'stumble in many ways' (James 3:2) and we only 'know in part and we prophesy in part' (1 Corinthians 13:9).
