Weekly Creative Devotional

Opening Prayer

Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the blessings You pour into our lives every day. Help us to live as You have called us – walking in love, unity, and gratitude. Open our hearts to Your Spirit so that our actions reflect Your goodness and bring encouragement to those around us. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

READING

Ephesians 5:1-2

Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.

REFLECTION

Paul reminds us that our faith is not just about what we believe, but how we live. To “imitate God” means reflecting His character – especially His love – in our daily choices.

Walking in love is active, intentional, and often sacrificial. Like Christ, we are called to put others’ needs above our own, to offer kindness even when it’s not returned, and to serve in ways that honor God.

The “fragrant offering” is a beautiful metaphor: our love, mercy, and obedience can be pleasing to God, like incense rising to Him. Even small acts of love – encouraging a coworker, forgiving someone who hurt you, or serving quietly – matter deeply in God’s sight.

MEMORIZING THE VERSE

Committing to Heart:

“Walk in love, as Christ loved us.”Ephesians 5:2

Write this on a card or sticky note, and decorate it with small hearts, rays of light, or a simple cross. Place it somewhere you will see it daily to remind yourself to actively live in love.

CREATING AND MEDITATING

Choose a creative activity:

Option 1: “Love Walk” Page
Draw a path with footprints along it. In each footprint, write one way you can show Christ-like love this week—helping someone, forgiving, praying, sharing Scripture, or giving encouragement. Reflect and pray over each as you fill them in.

Option 2: “Love Collage”
Create a visual collage that represents Christ-like love. Use magazine clippings, colored paper, drawings, or stickers to illustrate acts of love – smiles, helping hands, hearts, prayers, scripture verses, or people serving one another. As you assemble the collage, meditate on ways you can embody these actions this week, and dedicate it as a reminder of God’s love in action.

TAKING ACTION AND APPLYING

This week, intentionally seek opportunities to imitate God’s love. When frustration or conflict arises, pause and choose an act of kindness or patience instead.

Also, share Ephesians 5:1-2 with someone who may need encouragement to live in love. Remind them that even small acts of love are pleasing to God and make a difference in the world.

Hymn

“Come, Follow Me,” the Savior Spake

1 “Come, follow me,” the Savior spake, “all in my way abiding; deny yourselves, the world forsake, obey my call and guiding. O bear the cross, whate’er betide, take my example for your guide.

2 “I am the light, I light the way, a godly life displaying; I bid you walk as in the day, I keep your feet from straying. I am the way, and well I show how you must sojourn here below.

3 “I teach you how to shun and flee what harms your soul’s salvation, your heart from ev’ry guile to free, from sin and its temptation. I am the refuge of the soul and lead you to your heav’nly goal.”

4 Then let us follow Christ our Lord and take the cross appointed and, firmly clinging to his Word, in suff’ring be undaunted. For those who bear the battle’s strain the crown of heav’nly life obtain.

Closing Prayer

Dear Father in Heaven,
Thank You for showing us the ultimate example of love through Christ. Help us to walk in love each day, reflecting Your character in all that we do. Teach us to offer acts of kindness and obedience that honor You, trusting that even the smallest gestures are pleasing in Your sight. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

ABOUT OUR MINISTRY

We are a non-denominational Bible-believing Christian Ministry trained and equipped at the Christian Leaders Institute and Axx Bible College. Even though our Ministry is based on God's Word, the Bible, you need to approach our teachings like the Bereans and always study the Bible yourself to see if what we teach is aligned with what is written in the Bible.

Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true. Acts 17:11 NIV

We are only humans who 'stumble in many ways' (James 3:2) and we only 'know in part and we prophesy in part' (1 Corinthians 13:9).
