Weekly Creative Devotional

Opening Prayer

Father God, thank You for the gift of a new beginning in Christ. As we enter this new year, we are reminded that in You, we are made new. Help us to embrace the transformation You are bringing to our lives and walk in the fullness of the new creation we are in Christ. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

READING

2 Corinthians 5:17

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.

REFLECTION

As we step into a new year, we are invited to embrace the truth that we are new creations in Christ. The old has passed away, and with Christ, all things have become new. This is not just a fresh start – it’s a complete transformation. We are no longer defined by our past mistakes, fears, or failures. Instead, we are defined by Christ’s love and grace. In Christ, we have a new identity. Our sins are forgiven, and we are empowered to live a new life that reflects God’s love and truth. This is a powerful reminder that no matter what the past year may have held, in Christ, there is always the possibility of renewal, growth, and transformation. Consider:
  • How does this verse speak to you as you begin this new year?
  • Are there areas of your life where you need to embrace your new identity in Christ?
  • How can you live out the truth that “the old has passed away” and “the new has come”?

MEMORIZING THE VERSE

Memorize 2 Corinthians 5:17 (ESV): “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” Let this verse sink into your heart as you reflect on what it means to be a new creation in Christ. Ask God to reveal areas in your life where He is bringing transformation and where you can walk in the fullness of this new identity.

CREATING AND MEDITATING

Choose a creative activity: Option 1: New Year Collage. Create a collage that represents the new creation you are in Christ. Use images, words, Bible verses, and personal notes to reflect how God has made you new. This collage can be a visual reminder of your identity in Christ and a symbol of His transformative power in your life. Option 2: Fresh Start Journal. Start a journal focused on renewal. Write about the new things you want to experience with God in this new year. Reflect on how your life has already been transformed by Christ and what areas you are trusting Him to continue renewing in you.

TAKING ACTION AND APPLYING

This week, focus on embracing your new identity in Christ. Take time to reflect on the ways God is renewing you and ask Him to help you live out the new creation He has made you to be. Whether it’s through prayer, serving others, or reflecting on His Word, live in the truth that the old is gone, and the new has come.

Hymn

Since Jesus Came into My Heart

1 What a wonderful change in my life has been wrought Since Jesus came into my heart! I have light in my soul for which long I have sought, Since Jesus came into my heart!

Refrain: Since Jesus came into my heart, Since Jesus came into my heart, Floods of joy o’er my soul like the sea billows roll, Since Jesus came into my heart.

2 I have ceased from my wand’ring and going astray, Since Jesus came into my heart! And my sins which were many are all washed away, Since Jesus came into my heart! [Refrain]

3 I’m possessed of a hope that is steadfast and sure, Since Jesus came into my heart! And no dark clouds of doubt now my pathway obscure, Since Jesus came into my heart! [Refrain]

4 There’s a light in the valley of death now for me, Since Jesus came into my heart! And the gates of the City beyond I can see, Since Jesus came into my heart! [Refrain]

5 I shall go there to dwell in that city, I know, Since Jesus came into my heart! And I’m happy, so happy, as onward I go, Since Jesus came into my heart! [Refrain]

Closing Prayer

Father, thank You for the incredible truth that in Christ, we are new creations. As we begin this new year, help us to embrace our new identity in You. Show us how to walk in the fullness of the new life You have given us. May we live in the power of Your transformation and reflect Your love and grace to those around us. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

ABOUT OUR MINISTRY

We are a non-denominational Bible-believing Christian Ministry trained and equipped at the Christian Leaders Institute. Even though our Ministry is based on God's Word, the Bible, you need to approach our teachings like the Bereans and always study the Bible yourself to see if what we teach is aligned with what is written in the Bible.

Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true. Acts 17:11 NIV

We are only humans who 'stumble in many ways' (James 3:2) and we only 'know in part and we prophesy in part' (1 Corinthians 13:9).
