Weekly Creative Devotional

Opening Prayer

Father, we come before You today, grateful for Your guidance and wisdom. May Your Word speak deeply into our hearts and remind us of our calling to live in holiness and hope. Help us to honor You in all that we do, with hearts full of love and lives reflecting Your truth. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

READING

1 Thessalonians 4:3

For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you abstain from sexual immorality.

REFLECTION

In this verse, Paul makes it clear that God’s will for us is our sanctification – our becoming more like Him. Sanctification is a process of being set apart for God’s purposes, growing in holiness, and living according to His standards. This call to sanctification encompasses all aspects of life, including how we relate to others, how we treat our bodies, and how we honor God in our relationships. Abstaining from immorality is just one expression of the holiness to which we are called.

Consider:
  • How does understanding that God’s will for you is your sanctification change how you live each day?
  • What areas of your life might God be calling you to grow in holiness?
  • Are there specific actions or decisions that you need to make in order to live out God’s will for your sanctification?

MEMORIZING THE VERSE

Memorize the Word:
Take time this week to reflect on your own journey of sanctification. Write 1 Thessalonians 4:3 in your Bible journal or on a sticky note, and meditate on how God is shaping you to be more like Him.

CREATING AND MEDITATING

Choose a creative activity:

Option 1: Holiness Journal
Create a journal entry where you reflect on specific areas of your life where God is calling you to live in holiness. You could divide it into sections like relationships, thoughts, actions, and your relationship with God. For each area, ask God for His help in surrendering any part of your life that doesn’t align with His will.

Option 2: Prayer Walk
Take a walk outside and as you walk, reflect on areas in your life where you feel God is calling you to holiness. As you walk, pray for each area – whether it’s relationships, actions, or your thoughts. Ask God to help you live in a way that honors Him. You could also use this time to praise Him for His sanctifying work in your life. As you walk, allow the peace of God to guide your thoughts and actions.

TAKING ACTION AND APPLYING

This week, make a conscious effort to honor God in the choices you make. Whether in your words, actions, or thoughts, live with the awareness that you are set apart for His purposes. Seek to purify your relationships, your thoughts, and your actions, trusting that God is working in you to fulfill His will for your sanctification.

Hymn

This Is the Will of God

1 He wills that I should holy be; That holiness I long to feel, That full divine conformity To all my Saviour’s righteous will.

2 On thee, O God, my soul is stayed, And waits to prove thine utmost will; The promise, by thy mercy made, Thou canst, thou wilt in me fulfil.

3 Thy loving Spirit, Christ, alone Can lead me forth and make me free, Burst every bond through which I groan And set my heart at liberty.

4 Now let thy Spirit bring me in, And give thy servant to possess The land of rest from inbred sin, The land of perfect holiness.

5 Lord, I believe thy power the same, The same thy grace and truth endure; And in thy blessèd hands I am, And trust thee for a perfect cure.

6 Come, Saviour, come and make me whole, Entirely all my sins remove; To perfect health restore my soul, To perfect holiness and love.

Words: Charles Wesley, Music: Lowell Mason

Closing Prayer

Father, we thank You for Your call to holiness. We surrender ourselves to Your work of sanctification, trusting that You will lead us in paths of righteousness. Help us to live in a way that reflects Your goodness and Your love, turning away from anything that does not honor You. May our lives be a testimony of Your transformative power. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

ABOUT OUR MINISTRY

We are a non-denominational Bible-believing Christian Ministry trained and equipped at the Christian Leaders Institute and Axx Bible College. Even though our Ministry is based on God's Word, the Bible, you need to approach our teachings like the Bereans and always study the Bible yourself to see if what we teach is aligned with what is written in the Bible.

Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true. Acts 17:11 NIV

We are only humans who 'stumble in many ways' (James 3:2) and we only 'know in part and we prophesy in part' (1 Corinthians 13:9).
