Weekly Creative Devotional
Opening Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for Your holy Word that reveals Your perfect justice and abundant mercy. As we reflect this week, help us to trust Your timing and rest in Your power. Teach us to lean on Your strength, knowing that You defend and comfort Your people. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
READING
Nahum 1:2-3
The Lord is a jealous and avenging God; the Lord is avenging and wrathful. The Lord takes vengeance on his adversaries and keeps wrath for his enemies. The Lord is slow to anger and great in power, and the Lord will by no means clear the guilty.
REFLECTION
God reveals Himself here as a righteous and powerful Judge who fiercely defends His people. He is slow to anger, showing His patience and mercy, but He will not leave the guilty unpunished. This reminds us that God’s justice is both compassionate and sure.
When life feels unfair or when evil seems to go unchecked, we can trust that God sees all and acts perfectly in His timing. He comforts those who suffer and upholds His holiness by punishing wrongdoing.
Ask yourself: How can I rest more fully in God’s justice today? Where am I tempted to take matters into my own hands rather than trusting Him?
MEMORIZING THE VERSE
Committing to Heart:
Write Nahum 1:3 in your journal or on a card. Highlight the words slow to anger, great in power, and will not acquit the wicked. Let these words remind you daily of God’s perfect balance of mercy and justice.
CREATING AND MEDITATING
Choose a creative activity:Option 1: Fortress Drawing
Draw or paint a strong fortress or castle as a symbol of God’s protection and justice. Write the words from Nahum 1:3 around it. Meditate on how God is your strong refuge and defender.
Option 2: Justice and Mercy Collage
Create a collage from magazine cutouts, printed words, or Scripture verses that reflect God’s justice and mercy (e.g., Psalm 89:14, Micah 6:8). Display it somewhere you will see it often this week.
TAKING ACTION AND APPLYING
Identify one situation in your life or community where you long for God’s justice. Pray for God’s intervention and peace. Let go of any bitterness or desire for personal revenge, trusting God to act. Also, find one way to show mercy or kindness to someone in need, reflecting God’s heart.
Hymn
Divine Wrath and Mercy
Adore and tremble, for our God Is a consuming fire! His jealous eyes his wrath inflame, And raise his vengeance higher.
Almighty vengeance, how it burns! How bright his fury glows! Vast magazines of plagues and storms Lie treasured for his foes.
Those heaps of wrath, by slow degrees, Are forced into a flame; But kindled, oh! how fierce they blaze! And rend all nature’s frame.
At his approach the mountains flee, And seek a wat’ry grave; The frighted sea makes haste away, And shrinks up every wave.
Through the wide air the weighty rocks Are swift as hailstones hurled; Who dares engage his fiery rage That shakes the solid world?
Yet, mighty God, thy sovereign grace Sits regent on the throne; The refuge of thy chosen race When wrath comes rushing down.
Thy hand shall on rebellious kings A fiery tempest pour, While we beneath thy shelt’ring wings Thy just revenge adore.
Words: Isaac Watts, Music: ST. MARY (Prys)
Closing Prayer
Father God,
Thank You for being a just and powerful God who defends the helpless and punishes evil. Teach me to trust Your timing and rest in Your perfect justice. Help me to extend Your mercy and kindness in my daily life, reflecting Your love to others. Strengthen my faith and give me peace amid injustice. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

ABOUT OUR MINISTRY
We are a non-denominational Bible-believing Christian Ministry trained and equipped at the Christian Leaders Institute and Axx Bible College. Even though our Ministry is based on God's Word, the Bible, you need to approach our teachings like the Bereans and always study the Bible yourself to see if what we teach is aligned with what is written in the Bible.
Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true. Acts 17:11 NIV
We are only humans who 'stumble in many ways' (James 3:2) and we only 'know in part and we prophesy in part' (1 Corinthians 13:9).
